Dedicated power lines-getting started Double-oy! When I added a family-room to my house here in Medford the lectrical inspector insisted that I install a duplex in EVERY wall at least 18" long, INCLUDING the one between adjoining (20" apart!) bathroom and basement doors! There it was: ...
Dedicated power lines-getting started Oy. I don't know how you can infer that from reading this paragraph of the code. The Belden FEP dielectric is rated to 600F, and thus extremely safe for plenum use without a conduit. Its voltage rating, even at 300v (I thought it was higher), is s...

Has anyone upgraded power cord connectors? Bob, Since 19364 is just plain old unshielded multistrand 14AWG in cheap PVC, why not just use the thinner-PVC 19354, and save 25%? Or use the double-shielded Teflon-insulated 12AWG 83802 for just $2/ft? Very clearly a superior cable for audio use...
Dedicated power lines-getting started Eagle, Belden specifically produces semistraded (7x20AWG=12AWG) 83800 products for plenum-wiring without conduit for fire-alarms, etc. If this cable, for example, is approved for 600F test environments, then I don't see how you could have a seriou...

What brand outlet for dedicated lines? Hi Albert. I just bought a few Hubbell 8300 and IG5352. What's the cost just for the cryo-treatment. Thanks.I also have 100 P&S 5352 to consider treating for the 2 duplex PowerBoxes I'm assembling for A'goners. What's the batch capacity and co...
Reterminating Nordost- worth it? Symphony Sound has it right. Nordost gets $60 PER TERMINATION, so don't bother. Adding adaoptors, or....heaven forbid, CRIMPING into the Red Dawn is much less desirable. Just stick the Z's into the holes, which is where they naturally want to go!
Furniture quality speaker stands? Plateau V23 clones of the big Targets, but only $229/pr list. Look classy and work REALLY well.
Dedicated power lines-getting started Bob's right. Except that I'd like to add that a better cable than Romex IS an improvement. I use the 12AWG all-Teflon, shielded Belden 83802, and even twist a pair to make a 9AWG for huge amps.Simple stuff: run at least two lines, so that you can ...
I'm depressed, my system hurts my ears. Please help Really sounds like additive room reflections in the upper midrange. Very carefully check out first reflection absorption (pillows, carpeting, stuffed furniture). Use a good test disc with 1/3 octave warbles and notice the change in loudness as you...
Is there a cable that can warm up my sound? Maybe try a Neuance iso/absord shelf under the transport. Does wonders for tightening the upper harminic presentation so that the brightness isn't prominent because it's more coherent. Swimmier suspensions like air cushions or pds might make it wo...
What are your "reference" CDs? I've successfully gotten away from my reference CDs, and instead am simply buying LOTS of new, usually-cheap CDs to expand my musical experience. But it's so tricky, and sometimes surprising. A SONY reissue of Mozart's Requiem by the Bach Collegiu...
PC for small IEC socket... If your DVD player is out of warranty and you're fairly handy, it WOULD be better to just remove the case and hardwire a good PC (like the Belden 83802 I assemble into Kits for said purpose...$32) rather than addind another junction. Zero junction... |
