May I add a subwoofer to stereo system? I really like my Boston Acoustics PV-1000 high-power, small sub for HT, but just wouldn't bother in my ref 2ch system.Suba are a pain to integrate perfectly for great music. For HT and more casual background FM, as in my case for example, they fill...
Matching components to Speakers?? I too can't imagine that you'll ever send 200 watts to a surround! But more to the point, start by getting the sensitivity ratings of the speakers you're auditioning. If they're near the norm of 88dB/w, and not too low an impedence, than they'll re...
Can you ever have too much power? Didn't you hear his speech last night?
Will sand work in DIY speaker wires? Uh...yes, it's currently being done. Write me for the manufacturer. I make PCs using the magical Belden 83802, but use an outer soft jacket for resonance damping, even though I could stuff it with virgin North Truro beach sand. Careful what you ov...
Any Audio Grade Extension Cords??? I now make 4 outlet 4.5" sq. solid cast aluminum 2 20amp duplex (P&S or Hubbell) power "boxes" with hard-wired Belden 83802 PC as a kit for only $55. RSVP for details.Makes more sense than just a one-outlet extension as I had said last Decembe...
Electrocompaniet EMC-1: let's talk? EC received my wire payment for the EMC-1 MKII "UP" mod parts kit and instructions and says they sent the kit today. Yippee!

Where have the long-time regulars gone? After the several incredibly vulgar, threatening personal emails my family received after a minor technical disagreement with Carl I stayed away from Agon until the coast was clear. It was no fun to have my 14yr old daughter open said emails befor...
Anyone ever heard of the Shunyata and Cardas I use Shunyatas on my refrigerator and ac. Colder lows, without overly "hard" ice cream. The Cardas are famous for a much warmer sound, so best use is on space heaters, toaster ovens, etc. Read the threads, and save your $$.
What do you think of this system? Not important. What does it sound like to YOU in YOUR room?
CD Players with Analogue Sound Electrocompaniet EMC-1 MkII. No digital glare AT ALL! And no tube plumpness or rolled top octave, either. Yippee.
which component should i put the better cable on? And quality is NOT often correllated with price!
Strangest Tweak? I often see a couple of octogenarians at Symphony Hallwearing those leather pinna-extenders because of necessity. Quite the upper-mid boost I suspect.
Do I want a preamp? I agree, Msa. here's no question that my Aleph 2 monos are much happier having an Aleph P pre ($1800 used) pushing them rather than direct from my EMC-1 MkII (balanced). It all depends upon gain and impedence matching, which can be a huge problem w...
Best line conditioner??? How about a Teflon dielectric, beefy, double-shielded dedicated line? RSVP for details. Cheers |
