Dedicated line question
I ran three dedicated lines for my system in 2000: one for digital, one for low-level analog, and one for power amps. The Belden 83802 all-Teflon, shielded 12AWG is outstanding for this application.
Why do AC cords make so much difference?
I've come to believe that the quality of dielectric used can have a bearing on performance, in addition to shielding and current capacity. Hence I'm a fan of well-shielded all-Teflon designs. Write me for details if you wish. Cheers.
NAD T761 or something else?
I agree. I bought a new T751 this year for $500 and LOVE its EARS 5.1 ch synthesis matrix with all 2 ch broadcasts. A VERY smart algorithm! The amp is fine, too. The tuner is good, but not up to the level of NAD's best FM tuners of the early 90s M...
Re-terminate a Nordost SPM reference interconnect
Yes, and Nordost charges $80 PER TERMINATION! You will probably be better off swapping it for a correctly-terminated pair. (PS I'm in need of a SINGLE 3m and SINGLE 6m XLR, if your 3m is balanced).Buono Anno (sp?).
Fuses on dedicated lines instead of breakers ???
Ken, I will provide info for you later also. Cheers.
Oak ledge in dedicated room?
I agree. Varying its height and depth here and there might help too.
What's under YOUR CD player?
Yup, I'm letting my Neuance that's INSIDE my Arts & Crafts HEAVY cabinet sit on upturned threaded spikes that are screwed through the shelf. Howver, for the EMC-1 ON TOP of the cabinet my wife didn't dare let me drill holes, so small upturned ...

Neuance.
Electrical lines from fusebox to Amps--Upgrading?
I ran three separate lines using the magical Belden 83802 two years ago, and constructed PCs of the same. This 12AWG, fully shielded, all-Teflon stuff is VERY expensive by industrial standards ($1600/1000'), but cheap by ours (!).Much quieter nois...
Ready to Plunge into Aerials; One more question...
I too can't understand why you skipped the 8? Its bass can be overwhelming in a smaller room, just as the 10t.I really like the locally-made Aeriels, but once I heard the scarily-good midrange of the Verity Audio speakers my heart broke, and I ran...

Audiogon has temporarily reopened the original "HELP Electro..." thread. Ern
To Power Condition or not?
Wow, thanks for the rec!Yes, two years ago I installed dedicated lines and made my own PCs from the magical belden 83802, and have never looked back! Incredibly low noisefloor from the full shielding, nice current delivery from the 12AWG, and utte...
From tubes to solid state. What do you loose...
I think what Judith's alluding to is that even a tiny amount of 3rd or 7th order harmonic will add a discordant "edge" to a fundamental, thus giving it a sharpness that allows you to perceive it more easily.Come to think of it I used to do the sam...
Upgrade from Spica TC-60's.
Sean's probably right, but if you really want to start over I'd recommend the new Spendor S6 floorstander. Sweet, images like crazy, and not too bright up top. $1500 list/pr.
