upgrade from JMW 10 to 10.5 fpr my VPI Aries 1 There was only a very small improvement when I went from a 9 Sig. to the 10.5i. In addition to the SDS, and the heavy platter...the best improvement comes with the rim drive.
A Little Technical Help with the VPI Strobe Yes...that's what that adjustment is for. Also, I found using a better power cord on the SDS makes it a bit better.
VTA adjustment for VPI 10.5 tonearm VTA is not as important as proper VTF. Make the arm horizontal first. I do this by taking an index card, folding it exactly in half so that the blue lines are horizontal. I now have a tent/guage..so that if I get way down to avoid parralax errors,...
Switch to silver for a treble boost? Silver has absolutely nothing to do with treble sparkle. Some silver is neutral sounding..some have rolled off treble, and some...only some have a high end "sparkle"
Has anybody tried the BPT-9 powercord? Jimman...try this... Take your power condition out of the system, and listen again. You can always put it back...just try it. I never met a power conditioner that didn't screw up the sound somehow.
Speaker cables.. Budget again.. With a twist... Go back to Home Depot and get THHN. These are relatively thick and they don't bend well, but there is nothing better at that price point. You will need 4 cables...all the same length. Put spades if you can find them on the ends..or rings if you ca...
Which part reduces surface noise most? My take is that the record cleaning machine has little to do with this. In order to get the clicks and pops on another plane, your system has to be capable of 3 dimensionality. That means, that your CD player and/or tuner has to exhibit 3 dimensio...
DPS turntable User friendly is a wonderful term. Especially for someone with little experience with this stuff. The Well-Tempered arm is very difficult to adjust. You most likely will get better performance and satisfaction from a different arm. I just looked a...
What did you replace your Aerial 10T's with? ..just more thinking. I too have high ceilings.. they aren't cathedral but are 14 feet high. I can't tell you enough how the midrange changed when I installed drapes by the windows. These drapes are very light and gauzy..they are silk and linen an...
What did you replace your Aerial 10T's with? Nice system. The amp is a sledgehammer with not much finesse, however the cables are nice as is the preamp. I would not go with tubes...the Ariels need power. ..before you change out the speakers, try a different good amp. (I'm partial to Ayre, bu...
The Better Table? Side thrust compensation is the same as anti-skate. I should tell you, that after much listening, I have concluded that anti-skate (side thrust compensation) should not be used. First of all, it's impossible to set correctly, since it is constantl...
speaker recommendation 2500 or less small room I find B&W's overpriced...however...if you like that sound you have to be happy. ..just for the heck of it, listen to one of the Vandersteen offerings. I think they are very cost effective. Good luck with the Bar. My wife, brother and best fri...
What did you replace your Aerial 10T's with? I don't think your speaker is at fault. I heard 10Ts with great imaging, midrange, clarity, etc. What kind of electronics and cables are you using??
Reality Cables made of? THHN makes great speaker cables...you need 4 wires - 2 plus, 2 minus, - try it.
The Better Table? Cincy_bob.. yes...get rid of those feet and get the soft rubber ones.. I think they improved the sound of my VPI. Call Harry..he sent mine for free, and will probably do the same for you. Coming...is a new formulation for the ring around the drive... |
