Turntable interconnects and RFI What I have experienced with cables, is that to get the sound you want, you have to use the cable in your system in the application intended. Price should not be a consideration...there are very inexpensive cables that are far better than their ex...
Aerial Model 9 vs B&W Nautilus 802 I had a B&W 802D. It was not very musical...thin and lumpy bass, grainy mids and highs. I changed nothing but went to Vandersteen...a revelation.
where to invest??? I have had poor results with "audiophile approved" power conditioners that one plugs into the wall and then their component into the conditioner. There was always a change, however, there was always a change for the worse. There may have been a wi...
Has anyoe had problems using the mint LP tractor The VPI metal jig is NOT correct...that is, the Mint gave me appreciably better sound. If one suggests that there is no benefit from the Mint over the VPI jig, they had better check carefully again. I used VPI's jig on my 10.5i, checked it, then d...
where to invest??? I have installed an EP-2050 in my service panel with good results. It made my Sony LCD look cleaner and clearer, my stereo sound a bit better, and my toast tastier.
Did anyone hear the Cardas "Clear Beyond"... In my system, Cardas Cables - any of them including the Ayre variant are the very worst cables I've tried. I've tried Nodost, Wireworld, Purist, Audioquest, Kimber, etc....all top of the lines.
It costs me $100 a week to listen to vinyl YPES... I own a Porsche that gets about 15000 miles on a set of tires if I don't bring it to the track. At 500 dollars a tire...... If I do bring it to the track, I can go through a set in a few hours.... The cost of doing business....
Do failing tubes give off burning smell? Also...if there is dust on the tube (easy to have after a few months of service) the dust will burn giving off that smell.
Turntable cones/spikes or shock absorbing feet? It all depends on the table/setup. With a Rega, I found that great benefit can be had by using inverted cones under the surround. With my VPI Superscoutmaster Ref. rim drive, I find that using maple butcher block is the best thing to use. Experime...
Who has dumped the power conditioner? I have never had good luck with power conditioners...they all have made the system sound worse in some way.... They all make the system sound different, but not really better. The worst of them on my system was Richard Gray. I am using a whole hou...
choosing a center channel If you don't have one, get a powered sub-woofer. It makes even the mids and highs better
Power conditioning I never had good luck with power conditioners. They have made a difference, but upon critical listening also made the sound less good in other ways. Audition by using it for a couple of weeks, then removing it to see if the conditioner is worthwhile.
Cables for Vandersteen 2 Ce Sig II I am using Anti-Cables with my Vandersteen 5A's after auditioning many, many cables. Don't be frightened they are that good.
Is my phono stage stuffed The spray stuff is not a permanent fix. Repair it properly.
Have you replaced the batteries inside Vandy 5? Thanks for the reminder... I presume you thought it worthwhile to do it yourself... A dealer can usually do it, but you certainly can send it to Vandersteen for it to be done there as well. |
