Sound Question I have 5.1 speakers and am using the 2 additional amps to provide stereo throughout the house for background music. All rooms have 2 NHT ceiling speakers installed.
Tired of HT After much experimenting, I found that I needed 2 totally separate systems. The Surround sound is in one room, and the high end stereo in another.
Power Cord arrangement ? In my experience ...it depends. I have power cords made of Oyeida plugs on Accrolink, and some with Furutech plugs on Accrolink. I have an all Ayre system. The Oyeida plugs sound best on the CD player and preamp, and the Furutech plugs sound best ...
Buzzing when VCR connected to TV Actually, that sounds normal. There is LOTS of RFI coming from your TV. Unless your VCR can reject it, you're doomed. Try separating the VCR from the TV using a very long, and shielded cable.
Now Hear This I guess you know that NHT is not manufactured anymore...they are out of business. That said....the speakers are pretty good. I have them in my surround sound video system, and they are quite ok.
Can we objectively rate speaker cables? EEGAds Nasaman.....I get totally different perceptions of the cables. I don't have all of them that you tested, but have a few. I let them burn in again, and listened. For instance..the Kimber sounded warmer than Blue, and slower than Blue. I have...
Separating BiWire Cables According to Richard Vandersteen, Bi-Wiring is most effective when you use separate cables for the upper and lower connections.
How would you compare these two Vandersteens? Daverz - that is so odd, because I just was discussing the addition of subs with Richard himself regarding the Quatros and 5A's and he told me that he likes even 4 subs in the system. The subs affect the meds and highs making them even more effort...
B+W 801D Budt...after that uncalled for name calling, I don't know why I should care at all, however, I am now using Vandersteen 5A's with all Ayre electronics. I have never been so pleased with a system, or have heard anything that gets as much right as t...
system synergy I have an all Ayre system and have never heard anything better...yes, more expensive, but none better...maybe not even close. I really believe that when an amp and preamp are designed by the same team, the results are better than the separate comp...
B+W 801D I am not in charge of your checkbook, or have any concern about your ears or your math. This forum is a place where people of like interests can share ideas. If you want B&W speakers, by all means buy them. Your inquiry was with anyone who was...
B+W 801D The blown tweeters were not a case of poor amplification. I am using an Ayre V1xe with 200 watts a side conservative. My dealer says that tweeter replacements are not rare.
B+W 801D No BS I tell it like it is. To these ears, B&W is not a musical speaker. I am a professional violinist and hear real music every day. As you pointed out, I am consistent in my opinion.
B+W 801D I had them...fuzzy mids and lows, poor soundstage. I had to replace the tweeters a few times.
How would you compare these two Vandersteens? The Quatros are better in every way. If you can stretch to the 5A's you're really talkin'. Vandersteens - no matter which model, are a steal in their respective price ranges. The wood Quatros are a bit better than the cloth ones and are worth the ... |
