Budt...after that uncalled for name calling, I don't know why I should care at all, however, I am now using Vandersteen 5A's with all Ayre electronics. I have never been so pleased with a system, or have heard anything that gets as much right as t...
system synergy
I have an all Ayre system and have never heard anything better...yes, more expensive, but none better...maybe not even close. I really believe that when an amp and preamp are designed by the same team, the results are better than the separate comp...

I am not in charge of your checkbook, or have any concern about your ears or your math. This forum is a place where people of like interests can share ideas. If you want B&W speakers, by all means buy them. Your inquiry was with anyone who was...

The blown tweeters were not a case of poor amplification. I am using an Ayre V1xe with 200 watts a side conservative. My dealer says that tweeter replacements are not rare.

No BS I tell it like it is. To these ears, B&W is not a musical speaker. I am a professional violinist and hear real music every day. As you pointed out, I am consistent in my opinion.

I had them...fuzzy mids and lows, poor soundstage. I had to replace the tweeters a few times.
How would you compare these two Vandersteens?
The Quatros are better in every way. If you can stretch to the 5A's you're really talkin'. Vandersteens - no matter which model, are a steal in their respective price ranges. The wood Quatros are a bit better than the cloth ones and are worth the ...
Turntable interconnects and RFI
What I have experienced with cables, is that to get the sound you want, you have to use the cable in your system in the application intended. Price should not be a consideration...there are very inexpensive cables that are far better than their ex...
Aerial Model 9 vs B&W Nautilus 802
I had a B&W 802D. It was not very musical...thin and lumpy bass, grainy mids and highs. I changed nothing but went to Vandersteen...a revelation.
where to invest???
I have had poor results with "audiophile approved" power conditioners that one plugs into the wall and then their component into the conditioner. There was always a change, however, there was always a change for the worse. There may have been a wi...
Has anyoe had problems using the mint LP tractor
The VPI metal jig is NOT correct...that is, the Mint gave me appreciably better sound. If one suggests that there is no benefit from the Mint over the VPI jig, they had better check carefully again. I used VPI's jig on my 10.5i, checked it, then d...
where to invest???
I have installed an EP-2050 in my service panel with good results. It made my Sony LCD look cleaner and clearer, my stereo sound a bit better, and my toast tastier.
Did anyone hear the Cardas "Clear Beyond"...
In my system, Cardas Cables - any of them including the Ayre variant are the very worst cables I've tried. I've tried Nodost, Wireworld, Purist, Audioquest, Kimber, etc....all top of the lines.
It costs me $100 a week to listen to vinyl
YPES... I own a Porsche that gets about 15000 miles on a set of tires if I don't bring it to the track. At 500 dollars a tire...... If I do bring it to the track, I can go through a set in a few hours.... The cost of doing business....
Do failing tubes give off burning smell?
Also...if there is dust on the tube (easy to have after a few months of service) the dust will burn giving off that smell.
