Has anyone heard the VPI Classic yet Suteetat...You must experiment to get the correct damping in your arm. Listen very carefully with no damping, and when you're sure you know the sound, use 1 drop at a time in the bearing cup and listen again after each addition. You will hear the ...
Lacking Soundstage - Vandersteen 2C All the responses above make sense, however, you must have components that can reveal depth and width. I find that power cords can do wondrous things...if you choose the right ones.
Which new VPI Turntable? Suteetat...you CAN adjust VTA on the fly with the regular Classic tonearm, except it is not quite convenient. I think its silly to upgrade to the tower unless you change VTA for every record.
Which new VPI Turntable? Cnalak et al....The 10.5 normally used on the Classic is the same as the 10.5i - VPI's premier 10 inch arm, except that the VTA tower is omited (you can still adjust VTA on the fly, but not as conveniently), it does NOT have Valhalla wire, but a s...
Power Cables which take the soundstage back For me, power cords made a HUGE difference...in that I must agree with Richard_Stacey... My system was very good with stock power cords, but is absolutely magical now with the upgraded cords. Vandersteen 5A's have powered subwoofers built into the...
Which new VPI Turntable? Why don't you call Harry at VPI and ask him what he thinks. I always am treated honestly and fairly...I'm sure he will give you good guidance.
Power Cables which take the soundstage back EVERY power cord changes my system...they all add, subtract, enlarge, reduce, etc., etc. I built my own with Accrolink wire and Oyeida plugs or Furutech. I have an all Ayre system with Vandersteen 5A's. The amp likes the Furutech plugs, whereas th...
Headphone Amp for Work Go to Headroom and ask them all your questions. There isn't anyplace that knows as much. I have their balanced amp with Senheiser 650's in balanced mode, and they are wonderful together.
low riding Benz Micro Gold I agree with Viridian.... in addition, I hot glue a small (1/2 inch or so square) piece to a quarter. I put the coin/ME on the turntable, and lower/raise the arm onto it a couple of times. There may be some threads of ME left on the stylus, so I u...
Wilson Sophia 2--- VTL S-150 or Ayre V1-xe? I have an Ayre V1xe, and am extremely pleased with it. Although solid state (without the maintenance therein) it doesn't have that solid state sound. There is one caution..the amp sounds its best used in balanced mode.
Interconnects and phono pre Installdark...you could always use an adapter to experiment and then dump the adapterNsgarch... I slightly disagree with you...yes to same brand (house sound) of interconnects and speaker cables, but power cords..no. I have found that these are a ...
$ 2500 ....Stay with Vandersteens ??...what else ? ..by the way DR. Adam.....you can do lots of things to make your system sound better than changing speakers. How 'bout experimenting with cables, placement, resonance control devices, AC plugs, etc.
What about Cardas Cord? All cables react differently in different systems. Cardas was extremely poor in my system...it may be different in yours. The only way to tell is to try it.
Speltz Anti Cables Regarding twisting Anti-Cables.... I found that twisting closed in the sound a bit...untwisted more open. In my system nothing much else changed.... I first twisted them, and am using them untwisted now for years.
Anti skate and tonearm damping query Dougdeacon...you're correct, but anti-skate decreases with velocity so that it becomes less and for all practical purposes, pretty much zero at the end of the LP. That being said, Highly modulated sections of the groove will create more skate than... |
