Vandersteen 5a battery biased crossovers
Actually, getting the crossovers out is not hard at all...send back the silver boxes that the amps plug into as well. I've done it, sent it back to Vandersteen and reinstalled all of it....result is better sound....easily heard
Parallel? How do you set the VTA?
This is a very good question. You simply cannot adjust it with the eyeball method.... The playing card method might be good but only providing your arm has absolutely no taper to it. The only arm that I have used that makes this adjustment easy is...
What to upgrade if at all
I agree as to the cartridge upgrade, but be careful of room treatment....most people overdo it.
Jeff Rowland Aeris DAC : my experience
I am happy for you that you are so pleased. I always prefer having components manufactured by the same company. I too had Rowland stuff...Jeff is a great guy... I'm sure you write what you hear, but all too often, great sounding components in a pa...
HELP PICKING NEW TURNTABLE
I would rather have a VPI if I were you.... easy repair if necessary (great support from VPI), and valuable in the trade in/up market.
To ring or not to ring?

Bi-wiring with different cables for HF and LF?
All wires have a particular voice. By using different cables you are voiceing the high section differently than the lows. Coherence is compromised. However...you can do what you want...no damage
Thump noise on the lead in on warped LPs
I suggest the back of your cartridge is hitting the vinyl .....a ring clamp would add height to the edge and probably make it worse. I suggest you raise the back end of your arm.... the result might even be better sound.
Lp storage - location?
believe it or not...I store my vinyl in the garage. Here in Arizona, the temp there can be over 100 degrees. I never have experienced warpage. (4 years). I store them upright in a closet that is built in/on the wall.
Bi-wiring with different cables for HF and LF?
Richard Vandersteen also says its a bad idea.
Best Sounding CD / SACD player under 15K
Chesebert...just wondering if you heard the Ayre with balanced connections, do you remember the cables and if it sat on a resonance gizmo - Ayre/Cardas blocks, etc. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but your comment is a head scratcher t...
Grado Sonata, Signature 8MZ, Shure V15VXMR
I found the Sonata (low output) to be grainy and dark....didn't track that well either.
Vandersteen Amp?
Taters.... Come to Scottsdale, Arizona.....I see them all the time...and Lambos, and Bentley's. etc.
AntiCables
Right you are Nglazer....I have the silver balanced cables but with the Neutrik connectors. ....but not any more. Paul said that I'll get my Xhadow terminationed cables back in a couple of days. ...by the way.... price has very little to do with h...
