| VPI Classic and ZYX Airy 3 X SB...good match? I think it would be a good match....we're talking about 3000 dollars. I think you can get an Ortofon Windfield for about that much....and to MY Ears is a better cartridge. | |
| Platter Levelling Issue There are many leveling apps from the Apple app store. Level the platter, then use a Fozgometer to get the cartridge accurately in the groove. I would not shim the arm...you want a solid connection to the turntable arm board. | |
| Serious distortion from Rega RP1 If you checked alignment et al on the turntable, its got to be electronic. A few years ago I had a similar issue crop up and traced it to a bad filter capacitor in the prepreamp. | |

| Vandersteen 5A's Internal crossovers/batteries I just took the crossover and amps out and sent them to Vandersteen for him to repair them. It was done right with no chance of screw up. The speaker is too valuable for error. | |

| Reparation xv1s Soundsmith, Neeleclinic et al will repair your cartridge, but it will not really be a XV1s. Its a bit of a crap shoot. You might like the resulting sound better, or not as much. The only way to get a real XV!s is to get a real one. | |
