Best excuse for playing loud music?
The sound of a live orchestra is really not loud at all....just clear, clean, and dynamic
Musical Fidelity A5 Fire - Struggling to get support
When buying these things, its as important to know the company's support history as to its audio performance.  I hear way too many reports as Kevin describes.
Audioquest WEL Signature
I had WEL in my system and thought the Everest/Montblanc was far better..as a matter of fact, I liked almost everything else better ..just shows to go ya how more important system matching is than price. ..
Cable elevators
I've never found the least bit of difference with/without them.
Do you think you need a subwoofer?
I use Vandersteen 5A speakers.  They have built-in subs that are driven from their own amps...my main stereo amp drives the mids/highs.  This frees up the amp from the power hungry subs and permits it to just loaf with smile.  Two subs are better ...
Technics SL1200: standard overhang gauge or MintLP
You are much more likely to adjust the cartridge correctly with a MINT even if the exact same measurements are on any other gauge.  It eliminates site errors.
Anticables
some of the posters here just don't know what they talk about when they bash anticables.   Only when you have used them/know them for what they are should you critique them.  They may not be for everyone, but neither are Purist, Cardas, Audioquest...
Long XLR Interconnect Cables
only a slight difference - I'm using preamp to amp - 14 feet
Looking for a Speaker Recommnedation

Looking for a Speaker Recommnedation
I have Vanderseen 5A driven by all Ayre electronics...  When I moved from New Jersey to Arizona, Richard himself led me to set the speakers up properly.  I thought him going that extra effort was extremely valuable to me, and its so nice to be tre...
WORST Experience Ever in Dealing With Woodbridge Stereo NJ
Once upon a time this was a great store.....I remember a guy named Igor who was very knowledgeable and helpful.  Too bad about this place.  There was my favorite store called HiFi Haven in New Brunswick when  I was going to school at Rutgers.  Thi...
Pre-amp upgrade time?
..just can't understand why so many come to a " time to upgrade" situation.   If something doesn't work, or is irritating its time to move on, but to upgrade incrementally doesn't make sense to me.  Most times the new component is just different ....
Thiel Owners
tomic601,,,,,re: tilt - true, except if the floor is not level.   I have Vandersteens and Richard advised me to use a laser to correct any inaccuracies.  I found that Vandy's (Thiels I'm sure as well) snap into better focus if speakers are exactly...
To monoblock or not to monoblock McIntosh MC275's
Nope
Should I consider the newer Audio Research pre & power amps, when I play records not CD's
You don't need a DAC.  LIsten to your phono and enjoy your AR.  The suggestions on these posts will confuse the most sane among us.  Just get what you like.  I would make sure that what you buy is in good playing condition...then forget about ever...
