Hum sound ..is it me or is it you? LOUD hum in system
refridgerators and/or tv's are often the culprits.  They really send noise into the electric lines/ether.

Koetsu stone in a Dynavektor arm.....  this arm will keep it in check.

ZD 542....I spoke to Richard about this very subject.  He said that they use many different brands and kinds of wire for internal connections.  They choose the wire that suites that particular speaker connection.  There may be different types conn... 
Adding mass to a tonearm
Soundsmith has  different headshell cartridge screws that changes mass.  Has anyone used these things? 
Electric Interference + Line / Surge Conditioning
I tried many conditioners....they changed the sound timbre, but closed in the openness I was really hooked on.  I got rid of the conditioners and had an electrician properly fix the grounding in my house.

Carbon fiber doesn't take to shock well at all.   I have a cf bike, and there was a caution that if should go down with it to have it checked by a competent tech.....I have cf in my car - when I accidentally rolled over a curb, I could see no dama...

Properly setting up a turntable isn't particularly hard, it's just very time consuming to be as careful as you need to be.  Many adjustments rely on other adjustments, so when the arm height is adjusted, the vtf, et al needs to be reset etc .   De...

Hard to make a judgement not knowing how much you know about this stuff.   I would rank it pretty easy if you've set up a cartridge/tonearm before. 
Surge protection for amps?
I have an EP whole house surge protector wired into the main panel of my house (after a surge took out one of my Vandersteen amps).....not only have I not had any problems since, but the addition, actually made the system sound a bit better. 
Is your cartridge toast...maybe yes, maybe no??
This reminds me of auto engine oil......  the best thing is to change the oil after every drive, and the cartridge once a week. 
Grado cartridges still worth the money?
In the old days, Joe Grado was in charge....he was a singer at the met and knew what music should sound like.   They are still very nice, and worth the money they command, but they aren't world leaders. Unless you use the right arms, they sometime...
