Benz Ebony L retip
Benz LPS is a wonderful cartridge. mine was long in the tooth, and realized that a retipping would change the cartridge, so I moved on. Too bad
2 Channel Subwoofer connection
High ceilings - large space =  weak sound  Surely you could try a sub, but make sure you can return it if it doesn't work out
Serious distortion from Rega RP1
What I meant to suggest is that you take the arm in your hand and slowly move it across an imagined record to feel if there is an area where it doesn’t feel "smooth" ....or a bit stuck, etc.,,,an arm bearing flat spot, etc.
cartridge screws
Sure did - I had to get a pack of screws of many lengths, some of which I knew were not right. I got them on E-bay...not much at all. I got the ones with Allen wrench heads which guarantee no screwdriver slip creating a gauge in the arm.
Serious distortion from Rega RP1
Have you inspected that the arm has free movement?  not binding from time to time?
Using Magnets
geof....you can do what you want....I'm just reporting in MY system there is no change at all.  There is no last word on any of this stuff...you have to try it in your own system.  I've tried power conditioners...only additional warts....I don't e...
Using Magnets

Bad experience with Red Dragon Audio
That's the real value of using credit cards.....
VPI versus Ultrasonic cleaners
I have a cleaner that's been sitting in the garage unused for a year...I use a Hunt brush to clean the records before playing, and am satisfied.
Tonearm microphonics
Its all a tradeoff.....years ago I went nuts and applied Marigo dots all over the amp and preamp....absolutely ruined the sound.  Re: damping in a tonearm.  I had the metal VPI arm which is easily damped by applying oil in its well.  3 drops of fl...
VPI 2nd Pivot for 3D
The 2nd pivot can be used on the metal arms, but may have a problem with some earlier vintage metal arms. Check with VPI and send them a picture and approx. purchase date so they can confirm the proper fit. Note that the 3D arm sounds very much be...
What does a bad tweeter sound like?
Thanks all....I just removed the tweeter from my Vandersteen 5A (left side) and am sending it back to Vandersteen for a rebuild.  I hear just as you describe...louder on that speaker, fuzzy and metallic on some frequencies.   I thought it was the ...
VPI 2nd Pivot for 3D
Bill / Moon   Very interesting post.  I remember owning a Helius arm...very high priced, but a miserable design..  It went back to England 4 or 5 times before I sold it.... it was gimballed and was supposed to be the second coming.  I had trouble...
VPI 2nd Pivot for 3D
Don - I know about everything..
VPI 2nd Pivot for 3D
Raul....Interesting that you mention your objection to VPI arm regarding their serious needs for anti-skate.   I've listened carefully with and without anti-skate on my metal 10.5 arm, on the 3D with and without the 2nd pivot and in all cases, the...
