Arcam phono board - problems
DD,Good hunting, and I hope it is just a pin or grounding problem.Jim S.
Arcam phono board - problems
I can't answer your question directly, I don't use the AV8. I have an Alpha 10 integrated with phono board and it is dead quiet at any volume and not prone to picking up noise. When it was installed at a dealer I watched them miss the pins. The guy...
What is the most demanding on an amp?
Hopefully a real expert will chime in, but I think the Magnepan line and 3.6's are a little different. When you biamp a 3.6 you are driving the mid-bass panel and the ribbon with the high frequency amp.I have read estimates on the planar asylum of...

Best alternative CDs of 2007
Thanks for sharing. You got one of my favorite artists on the list... P.J. Harvey. I need some new inspiration too. Big mainstream alternative fan in the 80's and 90's but lost my way with a couple of exceptions (White Stripes, Doves, etc.).Then t...
Analog vs. digital segment on PBS
It was interesting and disappointing at the same time. Interesting was the analog engineer saying that he could incorporate the same "effects" as the digital engineer. Then the digital engineer says - so what - "I can do it quicker and easier and ...

Cincinnati, OH, any audiophiles?
EjcpaMike Morrow @ Morrow Audio dabbles in old tuners. Don't know whether he does it for more than just fun, but you can ask.Jim S.

I can't comment directly to your specific question. But I will share my general impressions.I have a C30 (C31's predecessor) that replaced an Alpha 10 integrated and a CD23 but haven't heard the CD192. I have only compared the Rotel to Arcam in a ...
How Many Of Us Are Compensating
I can compensate by moving speakersÂ… Magnepan 1.6's. That would be hard to do for most. Way out in the room for acoustical or small ensemble. Push them back (almost 3') to up the upper base & mid range output for rock, wall of sound, etc. Also...

Cars R OK, but what kind of motorcycle do you have
Hooray for the protective gear recommendations when riding. I believe in personal choice, but grimace when I see some kid and his girl on a sportbike in shorts, tee shirts, and no helmets.Wanted to mention that there are back protectors available....
Cincinnati, OH, any audiophiles?
Duane,Sort of. I got to meet some of the folks in this thread at Mike Morrows' in Kentucky. AlexC is running an e-mail list and there was talk of getting together again. Waiting for a volunteer with the time and patience to host a get together.I a...
