If you were serious about sound you would...
Within that logic we need the dimensions, furniture and treatments for each room of every studio if were gonna do it right. Is this an april fools thread?
DAC as pre amp
I have a project pre box s2 digital and I use it for a dac. It has a volume knob but I ask myself how much could they have possibly invested in this attenuator and still come in at $400?
Integrated for TAD ME1: Luxman, Accuphase or Soulnote?
I have kef speakers and if TAD has a lively midrange as KEF I think starting with a nice used Mark Levinson INT could be a very happy combo. Hegel h590 has impressive control but doesn't add any warmth. Gryphon Diablo would be really cool.
Big speakers, are they really the best way to get great sound?
uum, The ultra tight miniature musician presentation with the hyper detail is super cool, especially in the evening. I always end up owning systems that compliment live recordings tho even if I listen mostly to studio recordings.
Amplifier Specification questions
Most A/B amp manufacturers don't market how much their amps run class A. I wonder how bad it would effect my listening experience to have power meters and know when the transition happens. Personally, I'd probably have to turn the meters off to ev...
Higher-End Class A/B vs. Class A Integrateds
I skipped to the end. My amps drive my conventional{not horn} speakers to +90 db with less than 5 watts peak so get yourself an amp that runs in class a for the first 5 watts or so and above that we're just screamin and dancin' like a pack of drun...
20 year old solid state technology.....
I think we get what we pay for. When I was shopping the Adcom, B&K, NAC, Carver, etc components of that era they all sounded pretty much the same, They all probably used similar topology and second from bottom parts. I brought home a Krell and...
What is meant exactly by the description 'more musical'?
Once we agree speakers and components can interact with varying results then I can say something is more musical 'in my system' without hurting anybody's feelings.  When I bought the Hegel H360 I had a pair of Revel salon 1 speakers and of everyt...
mcintosh c-12000
I was torn between the c2700 and the c49 so I brought the c49 home with a promise from my dealer I'd get full trade up value if I went for the 2700 later. My question is Why does the world need a 2700 bolted to a c49?  I'm not  trying to be a wise...
Anthem STR pre and power amplifier
Congrats, the pre/power combo are really nice products and audibly a step above the srt integrated. If I was looking for a system that used room correction and sub integration the STR separates would be in my home.
Ideas for Pre/Power $9000?
HegeL H590. Read some reviews that include measurements. On the used market they should be available. 2017 I tried a bunch of int's and separates in a similar price and power and the hegel H360 back then) was clearly the most neutral and dynamic. ...
Integrated brand choice -- Simaudio, Hegel or Mark Levinson?
For the Focal 1028be I would lean towards the Mark Levinson. I have a Hegel H360 and H590 and really appreciate what they do, but I've heard the 1028be with older average recordings and it needs a warm forgiving amp and Hegel's are neutral. Sim idk
"The Ultra High-End Speaker."
I also owned the salon 2 and several other speakers in their price group. The persona 7f and usher be20dmd at the same time and being able to rotate speakers at will and listen as long as  wanted I was able to hear specifically to what they did di...
Have you found your "End-Game" speakers yet? I have. And it feels so good!!!
I wanted my salon 2's  to be my end game speakers, and I was surprised my 250/425  wpc amp didn't have the juice to wake them up. Makes me wonder how many end game speakers I've owned that I didn't have the right compliment of components to bring ...
What do you all think of ADS/Braun speakers?
I bought the L9e monitors, 7" woofer and ADS trademark dome mid & tweet. I think when compared to the competition in the late 80's early 90's they were good speakers for the money. Solid cabinets with nice veneers, steel grills and above avera...
