Why so much love for Mcintosh? bump, I went with A C49 and pair of Mc611's about a month ago to drive a pair of Kef Blades I bought 2-3 years ago. The previous amp had 525 watts into 4 ohms and over 2k into 1 ohm, so stable and powerful enough I thought. What impresses me so m...
Krell vs Mcintosh I just bought the Mc611's for my Blades and love the way music comes alive at such low volumes. That said, who's to say the Krell XD wouldn't be as good a fit in a different system?
Stereo or monoblocks I recently went to a pair of Mc611's with a c49 after trying many different stereo combinations. I wish I would have tried mac a long time ago. Speakers are Kef Blades.
Used vs. new Buying used has saved me from losing money on speakers that didn't fit my room, or needed better power than I could afford at the time to make them sing. Now I have a very good sounding system half used half new that sounds and looks amazing, but ...
Bose 901 VI flat? If you can hang them from the ceiling 2x2x2' in from the corners you'll get amazing room support for the bass. I loved mine with an sta 235b realistic receiver driving them.
Older Revel vs Newer Magicos the studio 2 is a much better speaker than the studio 1 and probably still has a higher ceiling than the A3 goes, but room acoustics and component matching still matter more than trying to plug and play a new pair of speakers.
Help building 2 channel system I upgraded my amp/pre to suit a pair of speakers, the salon 1 and when I upgraded to the salon 2 my amp/pre was wasted money as the new speakers requirements were so different.
Musical Fidelity or Michi for B&W 702 They're both good choices, you have to listen to both.
Ideas for Biamp with mc611 and mc275? Maybe trying a tube pre with the Mc611's?
Low level listening I was going thru the same thing with my KEF Blades, They were uninvolving until I started pushing to 90db and above, but for me the magic happens at softer volumes. I swapped my Hegel H590(the Beast) for a pair of Mc611's and was amazed at how muc...
More Bass I've had similar struggles to yours and adding subs never helped in a 2 channel system, at some volume the sub bass and mains quit playing together. I had a velodyne with a remote volume and phase button, one of several solutions I tried, but my s...
The new Borresen M1's...a new direction? nah, I have to admit being impressed by the Raidho D1.2 before the covid lockdown and last year at axpona the bookshelf Borrensen, but after seeing a pair of raidho D5's resell for 10% of their list price at only 4 years old it's clear the target ...
Ideas for Biamp with mc611 and mc275? Huh? Like 2 amps per side with the 611’s driving the bass and the 275’s driving the mid and treble?

Whole reference system was stolen, need budget friendly integrated. Help Please! I like the Hegel integrateds, I have an older h360, but heard the h390 drive a pair of Dali epicon 8’s compared to a hifi rose that I don’t know what model, but the Hegel clearly handled the Dali nicely. The dealer had the MF6 i si,idk that he sai... |
