Upgrade to McIntosh
Very new to Mac. I brought home a pair of 611’s and a c49 this weekend to drive my Kef blades. These are the store demos and I expect are indicative of what a run in system will sound like. The system has exceeded my expectations and I’m buying th...
Best amp for Salon 2
The guy I sold my salon2’s to loved the mc601’s. I bought the newer mc611’s for my speakers and really like them, not just brute strength, but very good at resolving details and image placement. With the salon2 just bring 500watts to the party, pe...
Fantasy or reality? Inexpensive solid state preamps that get you 80% there?
I skipped to the end.. I started with realistic recievers and dept store speakers and have worked my way from there. I think the closest we can get to a decent compromise is 2 to 1, speakers to amp. As speakers get better so does their ability to ...
Revel vs the field
revels do have a bit of a cult following and i liked their older stuff, but i'm not a big fan of the performa 3 line,  nothing wrong with liking what you like.
Best shipping companies
Freightcenter is who I use because they offer everything I can think of, shipping companies, dates locations, prices, curbside, liftgate, you name it. Whatever you need, didn't know I needed, is all there easy to plot.
Warning for Revel lovers
I bought a demo pair of salon 2's from a dealer for an amazing price because they had done a show. Black with no blemishes for less than 1/2 list price, cash no tax! The reason for my post is to say even at the price it was so much more than I wa...
Has anyone lost a KEF tweeter?
GP acoustics, try to order directly, Have serial# ready and they should work with you. I'm always buying replacements from them.
Coaxials - Reality vs. Experience?
I came full circle back to kef and i'm not sure if it's because of my familiarity with the house sound or because they just due midrange better. I had the r105/3 and consistently listened at 104db peaks and the louder they played the more realisti...
Speakers with deep/powerful bass
some Meridian dsp 8000's really try to push the walls off the foundation. a pair of usher be20 dmd's also overloaded my room with bass.
Convincing your local dealer to let you try speakers at home
i have a couple local dealers near me that only require a look at my id and writing down my cc# without running it. it's always open box and i'm allowed the speakers/component around a week, but now that I've done a bit of shopping here and usam I...
Has anyone lost a KEF tweeter?
no fuse in kef speakers. my original uniq reference 10 year clock was ticking so i ordered a pair from the us kef distributer and installed them myself. back then kef drilled the midrange magnet and used an extended pole piece on the back of the t...
Hegel H160 and Focal Electra 1008Be sounding bass-less
Hegel amps have a high damping factor which will lean towards tight fast bass. I brought home the Kanta 3 and that big flpoorstander had a 10 db peak at 100 hz and was -20 db at 80 hz. so placement is critical and subs might be necessary.  The fi...
Best amp for Salon 2
I really liked them with the TOTL Mark Levinson, I didn’t like the price. The Anthem 400wpc stereo separates with pre is great and worth a try it’s an attractive piece too.
Piega loudspeakers
bump, I'm considering a pair of Master line source 2's and am wondering what Piega owners have to say about their experience and what these amazing speakers need to play their best. If you haven't owned the MLS2 any Piega experience will help. Tia...
T+A elektroakustik HV Series Components
I tested my hearing yesterday and found it drops like a rock above 9khz! Believe it or not a couple years ago I could hear to 15 khz, bummer. Apparently head and neck imrt/igrt can dearly effect hearing, so I'm glad I found out what happened to my...
