Safe to use an old Sumiko Talisman Virtuoso B? I bought a used Dynavector DV20XL or something like that and it had collapsed suspension. The bottom of the cartridge was scraping on the record. But, for that brief moment, it sounded sublime. I ended up getting it fixed by Andy at The Needle Cl...
Hi current or source power cable How would the source cord know it is being used on an amp and vice versa?
Static electricity and my Denafrips do not get along We use a whole house humidifier in the winter made by AirCare. I think it was around a couple of hundred dollars 2 years ago when I bought it. This puts around 5 gallons of water daily in the air. In my upstairs room, the humidity right now is ...
Good Speakers for Rock and Roll Under 15K @veerossi, Sadly, I have never heard any of the bigger Tannoy’s. I only heard the inexpensive one with an 8 inch woofer. I will have to hit another Audio Show to hear the Tannoy’s. I have heard the Klipsch and am hoping to purchase a new pair o...
Moving Magnet Phono Cartridges @mahler123, If the person contacts me again which I doubt, I will post the info. I do not want to start anything, I am getting too old for that amount of drama. Believe it or not, the drama really takes a toll on me and I would rather avoid.
Good Speakers for Rock and Roll Under 15K @ roxy54, You are correct about the Volti speakers. I was wrong, I was thinking of another brand.
Harman Kardon HD 7400 Displays E, won't play I would send it back to whomever refurbished it.
Whats playing on your system today? It's all vinyl today as I am still breaking in my MM cartridge. Mott The Hoople Live Tom Petty & Heartbreakers, Damn The Torpedo's The Eagles, Greatest Hits The Who, Who's Next The Who, Live At Leeds Alice Cooper, Killer Pink Floyd, Med...
Good Speakers for Rock and Roll Under 15K @roxy54, I already gave my recommendations at the beginning of this thread.
Has anyone tried this? I just noticed it on my Sheffield disc. I swapped the wires on the back of my speakers as I use banana plugs. I honestly didn’t hear a difference but I didn’t play it too long. Try it for yourself and let us know what you think.
A Nice repair story That is awesome. I was talking with a guy in one of the FB high end audio groups and he is waiting over 9 months for a MC 500 to be repaired at the factory. I’ll have to bookmark your post in case my MC302 ever needs attention. Happy it worked o...
Does anyone know what the thickness is of the standard VPI felt mat? The newer VPI turntables like the original Prime come with a felt mat with the VPI logo on it and strobe markings. No need to bother the VPI POLICE.
Good Speakers for Rock and Roll Under 15K It’s obvious that a few here have never really listened to Rock, otherwise they would not be recommending Vandersteen, Volti and other speakers that were voiced with Classical and Jazz. I owned 2 pairs of Vandersteen and they sucked on Rock. You ...
Does anyone know what the thickness is of the standard VPI felt mat? The VPI felt mat is thick, maybe 1/8 of an inch. I use a felt mat that is half the thickness. I purchased it from the official PF store with the DSOTM logo. It works great on my turntable. I also tried the hard mat by Oracle or Origin, can’t r...
Equipment sight but not sound. @tattooedtrackman, I hope you didn’t purchase your speakers based on Louis Lipnick’s Stereophile review. He claimed the speakers had no flaws and was pretty much laughed out of the industry. I heard them once and they were pretty impressive. I am... |
