Graham Phantom Supreme SME mount question My 2.2 with SME mount does so I would think so but you might check with Graham. It fits the board I had for my SME IV at least.
Speaker mash up ? My experience is that instead of accentuating the virtues of each you bring forward the bad side of both. The way you propose to do it will be very bad if I understand it properly as the crossover point will be god knows where and how will you ach...
Parasound A51 - Different Temp Heatsinks? Excuse me, I thought you were running them all from the same taps. I was conflating your amp with the A21 my friend has; I didn't understand the RCA connection for the speakers; RCA jacks carry signal usually. The fact that one heat sink gets hott...
Parasound A51 - Different Temp Heatsinks? If you run 2 pairs of 8 ohm speakers in parallel you get a 4 ohm load; not 8 ohms. Adding a third pair will lower it still further; you may have a 2 ohm load on your amp. I will defer to experts like Al on exact loading but in general when you par...
Isolation Devices: Any Good Ones? I often go to Audioasylum for a good laugh myself. Look at this thread: http://www.AudioAsylum.com/cgi/vt.mpl?f=general&m=631918
Parasound A51 - Different Temp Heatsinks? Have you considered what the combined impedance of the speakers amount to? It may constitute a very low impedance load; a transistor amp will attempt to double its output when the impedance is halved. For example my CJ 350 barely gets warm driving ...
The Weavers Reunion at Carnegie Hall -1963 new LP I have the original LP and the CD and the LP sounds better on my system; have not heard the reissue LP.
turntable isolation feet A turntable is a complex system and any vibration can affect the sound. I also found that VPIs were improved by adding brass cones; I used a different brand but would expect to get a similar result from the Bearpaws. Any table will be affected by ...
ASR Basis Exclusive 2006 Packing Question I am getting ready to pack mine also; the above is correct. I would not order from ASR, the importer wanted to charge me $400 for an IC that Digitech sold in lots of ten for the same price; i.e. $400 for ten of them. I eventually bought 2 on the i...
single ended cable crossed at bi wireable speaker? I use Cardas GR speaker wire; a double run would be expensive and cumbersome. I formerly used Cardas jumpers; currently using bare solid silver wire I got from either Homegrown Audio or Chris Van [drawing a blank]. I actually do have some solid si...
single ended cable crossed at bi wireable speaker? I have found that on biwire speakers it makes a difference whether you connect to the tweeter terminals or the LF ones. Usually the HF connection is better, even for the bass to my ears. I use a solid silver wire for jumpers currently.
Isolation Devices: Any Good Ones? I have tried many, all of whom helped but whose sound differed considerably. Synergistic Research MIGs are good at a RELATIVELY low price. FIM roller bearings [ I am a sometimes FIM dealer] work well also. Star Sound brass cones and Melange cryo t...
Over 55? - You Gotta See This Over 55? I am law abiding and haven't been over 55 since they made it the National Speed Limit. I recon that has been 3 or 4 years now. I sure would like to have heard what that handsome young man was singing about but my hearing aid battery is de...
Thorens TD126 MKIII It is a good TT; prices for vintage gear vary widely. You might check ebay or subscribe to the Blue Book on here if you intend to purchase other items as well. Just a general Google search should give some idea.
Nude TT / Armpod question Mine is not separate but is largely decoupled from the plinth by the use of a Pete Wriggle VTA adjustor. Arm is held on table by its own weight and not bolted on. See the Wriggle web site for pictures and more info. Seems to work well. |
