Life span of speakers
Usually speakers in the $5000 range last about 4 to 7 years. Speakers in the $12 range last closer to 10 years.. 
What is the Phono stage you have finished with?
After hearing the Zesto Andros PS 1 I would totally endorse that phono stage...totally.

What is the best amplifier for Tannoy Kensington ?
Well I will repeat that the 8 watt Sophia Electra mono blocks are the best that I have heard the Kensington's sound. Now unless you have an auditorium to fill they should be fine. 
Tannoy Westminister Royal SE Pre-amp Preference?
I am a dealer for Tannoy speakers as well as deHavilland Electronics. I would be remiss if I did not recommend highly the deHavilland Mercury 3. You can purchase directly from the manufacture in Vancouver Washington.......or me.

Passive Pre-amp: Improves overall sound quality??
How could a passive preamp improve the sound of the amplifier? Anyone.....
