Can you tell me why I didn't like the Reference 3a MM's?
I would agree re: the Ref 3A's...the bass seems to have a bubble sound to it....ProAc makes a nice sounding speaker that you should like, the small one...the Tablette
Concrete Audio Speakers...Speaker Enclosures made out of Concrete ?..
I would think concrete could work....there are so many thickness you could work with. Thicker for the woofer. There is light weight concrete and you could texture the inside with ie. polystyrene or some media to make it more textured. ...the probl...
Speaker Thoughts - YG Acoustics Hailey 2.2 vs Magico S5 MK II
I have heard the Magico speakers and the YG speakers at the RMAF.....For me I don't get any goose bumps.....Check out the Wilson Beseech A.C.T. Evolutions...They are using carbon fiber cabinets and have for years. This is the direction that Magico...
Should a reference speaker be neutral, or just great sounding?
I have always thought that when a reviewer called a speaker neutral it was kind of a back handed complement. They have to say something nice. If a speaker makes me smile and want to listen to music and does not hurt my ears and does not put me to ...
Stereophile complains it's readers are too informed.
Erik I agree with you. The point of the article  I believe that to many are automatically drawn to speakers that say or they are told have a flat response. Not enough just listen to the speakers and find out they enjoy them. Flat response is great...

I would take a look at these speakers: http://aaudioimports.com/ShowProduct.asp?hProduct=320Tremendous technology and no hype, Wonderful midrange that is missing on most speakers and sweet yet extended soft dome tweeter, Accurate and music bass th...
Will Technology Kill the Audiophile Hobby?
It seems likely to me that there will be virtual reality systems with goggles and head phones and we can watch the actual performers play their music. Imagine bringing a symphony orchestra right into your room..
Alternatives to Brick and Mortar
I couldn't agree with you more. In the old days I worked for a company that sold systems starting at $399 for speakers, turntable cartridge, and receiver. To be a dealer today you need to stock $120,000 speakers, 50K amps.....
Why the truth is not in them ??
MillerAfter reading Steven Covey's book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and Jordan Peterson's book 12 Rules For Life, I can state unequivocally that I will never read another self help book from some pompous arse. If you listen to Peterson...
Harbeth 30.1 or 40.1
I don't think you would need a sub with either. The 40's will blow more air which might be not more but much more then you would want. With the Harbeth what you get is a special midrange that in itself is very satisfying. Hook em up to a sweet sou...
2way vs 3way speakers: different or is one "better"
The beauty of a book shelf speaker is the small cabinet which can really make the " box " disappear. I am reluctant to recommend a three way in a bookshelf. If you go with a bookshelf make sure the midrange is really satisfying, if it is you won't...
which speakers should I buy?
I would have to say yes...you should.
Is there a Solid State amp that can satisfy a SET guy?
Bricasti makes very nice amplifiers that to my ear come very close. A deHavilland Mercury 3 would add to the spaciousness and I hear no electronic noise.
Should people who can't solder, build or test their speakers be considered audiophiles?
One of the symptoms of  covid 19 is on display.
More Power or use subwoofer to boost bass for music
I guess I would ask " how is the mid range " ?
