Feickert Adjust+ Tool I find this tool very interesting myself. I had a post of my own asking about it a few weeks ago but there seemed to be little interest at that time. It appeals to my neurotic audiophile side which always wonders if my setup is optimal. Azimuth I ...
VPI balanced junction box installation Stringreen, I did get the balanced box installed. The one they shipped me must be bigger than the one you have because it was too big to fit on the existing base. It was an easy matter to switch the whole thing out though. Once I got the top off, ...
VPI rim drive new feet Looks like we have the same feet but slightly different motor housing units. That explains the differnces I encountered. Luckily they still work fine for me. Happy listening.
lps sound bad I discovered Tom Port due to my dissatisfaction with the Cisco Aja and Classics Aqualung. I've been trying to figure him out ever since. Through my correspondece, I genuinely like the guy. His judgement of sound quality is good. When he reccomends...
VPI balanced junction box installation Thanks for the help. I would never have figured that out. It certainly seemed like it needed to be removed en block from the bottom. With any luck I'll be running balanced in the morning. I'm trying the anti cables with it.
Record cleaning machine makes more surface noise? Clean records won't be a waste of money. In my opinion, the VPI 16.5 is a bargain. Durable, Flexible and yes noisy. Reasonably priced though and makes cleaning easier so you'll do it more. I'm using mine with steam now. Indispensible.
VPI rim drive new feet We may have different model years because my motor assembly originally had firm rubber feet, not metal. These original feet were about 1/4" high whereas the new ones are about 1/2" high. How high are the feet they sent you?
lps sound bad I have bought a few records from Tom and they all have sounded good just as he said they would. I can't justify spending that much very often though. I mostly use that site as a source of valuable information that helps me find my own good soundin...
VPI rim drive new feet Stringreen, I've been using the soft footers from VPI for a few weeks now and I agree they work quite well. I do wish they weren't quite so high as they required me to raise the table more than I like. The mini feet do make this easier and the tab...
lps sound bad Stiltskin, Don't misunderstand. We are not downplaying the value and enjoyability of wonderful sounding recordings. They are one of my favorite things as well. What I (and I think Jaybo) are saying is that we can't expect all recordings to be stel...
lps sound bad Jaybo,Thanks, this is exactly what I was trying to say. Once the left side of the brain is satisfied with set up and tweaking, you have to free up the right side to allow the music to be enjoyable. This is the same side of you that notices a sunse...
Deep Cleaning Records With Steam? I'm happy with my results using the perfection steamer on a 16.5 so far. It will probably be a permanent addition to my cleaning regimen. Two questions though, 1.How would I use the steamer without any attachments on a 16.5 without tipping it too ...
lps sound bad I guess my expectations were not as high as some of yours. I got into vinyl expecting much of it to not sound good but the good stuff to be worth the trouble. I was pleasantly surprised to find how much I enjoyed all of it. Some are admittedly lif...
Deep Cleaning Records With Steam? I found a good source of water at a local lab supply shop here in Des Moines. Reagent grade type 1 water (Nerl) at 17.50 per gallon. Also deionized purified water that says it meets type 1 standards at $17 for 5 gallons. I guess I'll renig on my p...
Cartridge downgrade? Marty, I was not aware that the 90x retip was available. Is this at soundsmith.com or something like that? I really do enjoy the 90x and am keeping it. I think it's also very hard to determine when this needs to be done though. I got a second arm ... |
