Length of speaker cables Shorter interconnects and speaker cables are theoretically better sounding than longer ones, and longer power cables are better than shorter ones (just don't makes loops out of excess cord - it creates a magnetic field). Also, don't run the cords ...
Mat for Rega P10 You will see the pattern on the TEAC if it is spinning. Looks nice. At this point, looks aren’t even a consideration if the mat can stay on the platter without the need for tape. Plus the thickness of Herbies matches the stock Rega mat thickness.t...
Mat for Rega P10 Matsui-you really wil be a mat analyst. I thought I was going off the deep end with this, but it looks like you already dove right in. Interested to hear what you think, but the P10 ceramic is different than the P8 multi layer outer weighted Glass ...
Mat for Rega P10 I gave up after more frustration with the Washi lifting off with the record. Ordered Herbies -it’s silicon underneath to hold onto the platter and have some absorption/sponginess and has a layer on top. It was $60. Hopefully this will do it.
Mat for Rega P10 You'll be a mat analyst. I was thinking of trying the Jakes leather one and the Funk Firm one. I like the Washi (TEAC) Supposedly, as it breaks in a little more it won't lift off the table when I change records. It's only 1 mm so 1/2 the thickness...
What do you think of this power cord? You didn't mention whether or not you have a power conditioner. I had a very slight hum/buzz with the volume turned up and nothing playing until I got a power conditioner and the noise vanished. It also provides protection form spikes, like lightn...
A pragmatic view of cartridge expenses / many questions If you are looking at TCO, Van den hul's have 2 advantages:1) They have a special shaped tip that supposedly lasts between 25-3500 hours, 25% or more longer than ellipticals and the like because of the way they sit in the record groove. Mine just ...
Honest question about cartridge vs. turntable performance. Hey Chakster - it's just guidelines for percentage spend on a moderate system by component area (up to maybe $15-20K) . They also forgot the cables/conditioner which could eat up 10% ($1500-2000). The point is that if the source produces garbage, ...
Mat for Rega P10 appreciate your honesty. It's trial and error. A lot of error.
Anti skate question for Rega P8/RB 880 arm YES Elliott. TT is better than CD or anything digital IMHO. But let’s not go down that road. I had a discussion on a very similar topic a couple months back that went very deep with I think 500 posts. This was just what I hoped would be a simple a...
Honest question about cartridge vs. turntable performance. I think it depends on the total price of the system, but in up to $15-20K systems, I think the allocation of 70% for the entire source is right on the money. I might reallocate within the.70% maybe (I am an arm guy), but the amp & speakers ca...
Mat for Rega P10 For now it’s Washi.you never mentioned your recommendation lewm. Please enlighten me.
Anti skate question for Rega P8/RB 880 arm Sounds like they are trying to sell some kind of product, but the bottom line is they are closer to what the tru lift guy is saying versus what Rega is saying. Since seeing a gradation of even 10% on the slider is tough, I'll keep it around .3-.4 ...
Anti skate question for Rega P8/RB 880 arm Elliott- are you kidding me? No dealer I know goes to that level of insanity. I think you do have OCD even if you don't go down to the second level of your instructions.I just had a simple question - the tracking was set up by someone at VPI (Van ...
Anti skate question for Rega P8/RB 880 arm Thanks lewm. I am pretty experienced with equipment over the decades, but never set up my own tables and never even thought about anti skate until the guy from tru lift brought it up because the arm was skating off his lift bar just last week. It ... |
