Mat for Rega P10
I am almost at my wits end with this. I have the Washi mat (which is supposed to sound better), the Rega original mat, and last week when I was at VPI (new VDH distributor) getting my Van den hul cart replaced, he gave me a VPI mat that has a plas...

Nothing wrong with a legitimate upgrade if you set $$ aside to spend some "pin money", or for a forced replacement from a broken component that is not worth the cost of repair. A merry go round of change for change sake looking for the holy grail ...
Honest question about cartridge vs. turntable performance.
Guys (or gals) the original question posed was not belt versus direct. One technology is not better than the other. It depends on the table. Some manufacturers make both types. OP is talking about going from a good basic turntable to something bet...

Can we take the personal attacks out of this please? Settle up or agree not to sell each other anything anymore.
Why the truth is not in them ??
I am unfollowing this discussion which has gone off the rails to a ridiculous tangent
Why the truth is not in them ??
What is this, a philosophy course? C’mon guys.
Why the truth is not in them ??
that’s why I leave the selling to the dealers
Mat for Rega P10
I got my Washi because the static caused the mat to come up with the record sometimes. I don’t think the felt one from Rega is a piece of junk at all. I trust them as they do extensive testing and I’m sure it sounds best. It doesn’t deteriorate ov...
Why the truth is not in them ??
I also had a dealer sell something for me who "forgot" he sold it and didn't send me a check. I found out by accident when I stopped by his store when I was in the neighborhood. When he couldn't find it, he checked his receipts and said someone so...
Why the truth is not in them ??
I sold to commercial accounts for over 30 years and can't deal with consumers. Whenever I sell something, I let a dealer handle it. If I've traded it in, he can either give me trade credit or take it on consignment. I even had a guy sell something...

Other mistake was selling off some non-audiophile vinyl thinking cds would sound better. Didn't get a cd player until it became apparent that new records were not being released on vinyl. I am still trying to catch up and in many cases only able t...
What has been your costliest mistake in this hobby?
When I was first starting out in the audio addiction when I was in college and turned equipment over sometimes on a weekly basis with the idea that it would sound better (and sometimes it did), I got taken advantage by a very unscrupulous dealer w...
Has anyone used an Audio Technica 6006 to raise the tonearm when the side is over?
Also Integrity HiFI has a new tonearm that does not touch the plinth and she was fanatical about it. Said it makes a $500 cartridge sound as good as a several thousand dollar one. Has no bearings at all, based on a cord. Said she can't keep up wit...
Has anyone used an Audio Technica 6006 to raise the tonearm when the side is over?
Little Fwend is changing model for the Rega and you can't talk to them. Lady at Integrity HiFi is great (they make the TruLift)- instructions didn't mention adjusting the height, which took 2 seconds. Positioning it was tricky, but it is fantastic...
Mat for Rega P10
I just got a TEAC washi mat for my Rega P8 because the Rega mat would come up when flipping or changing records sometimes due to static. This type mat came highly recommended and eliminates static. It's just 1mm thick and so far for 5 days it soun...
