Question for Rega P8 or P10 owners Forget the Rega product - heard it is not available for the P8 or P10. I've heard of Black Diamond Racing, Symposium and Townshend. Feet, shelves or a combination. Your help is appreciated. One twist - I would like to keep the height of the table ...

Most hyped turntable, tonearm, and cartridge? Agree with rcronk 100%. Exceptions are appliances for the home like washers dryers and refrigerators and water heaters. They are not made as well as ones 25 years ago.
turntable recommendations @stantheman - could you have put a Rega RB 880 arm on the Dr. Feikert? I am very surprised that you didn't think the P8 with that arm didn't sound better than the RP6 with the RB330. That may have been something to think about. Sounds like a nice ...
Used phono preamp options - feedback requested BTW - you probably will have a difficult time finding a used one, especially with the Insight LPS. I had to get mine after the fact and installed it myself (with Ron's help).
Used phono preamp options - feedback requested Sutherland 20/20 with LPS would exceed $2K. You can get a Sutherland Insight with the upgraded Linear Power Supply for $1750 list. If you can swing the extra $900, the 20/20 has great reviews also.Ron Sutherland will talk to you himself (very nice...
The Great Cartridge Shootout How about walking into a brick and mortar store you trust and let them save you the aggravation, shipping, delays, etc?
Most hyped turntable, tonearm, and cartridge? Like Millercarbon said, old things tend to go up in value due to rarity and collectability in our throw it out if it's broken society.Technologies that get perfected incrementally are what you want. Just like 911s get a little better all the time,...
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state? It should not be noticeable AJ. I had a problem with minor buzz/hiss with the volume on at normal volume without music from a few feet away and it went away completely when I got a power conditioner.Of course I use SS - not sure about tubes, but I...
turntable recommendations @stantheman2 - you never mentioned your phono stage. Did you compare the P8 with its fantastic arm to the Feickert? It would have saved you a few bucks. Glad to hear you are hearing an improvement over the RP6 which is not surprising.
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state? waste of time....KISS
Cartridge reliability I had a van den Hul MC One Special (2nd from the bottom of the line) for about 2500 hours and the stylus lasted until is completely wore out and sounded consistent the entire time I had it.VPI just took over distribution of them and were a pleasur...
Power Conditioning / Surge Protection Appreciate all the EE arguments.Reminds me of college boring lectures.Keep it simple...where are you going to plug these things into? Certainly not a power strip. I have a Furman 15 and it does the job. It protects the equipment and has tons of o...
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state? If you want to be an audio equipment hobbyist and tinker with extra things to worry about, then tubes are for you if you think they sound better. I think they heat up a room and tend to not have enough power. It all depends where you draw the line...
