What class of amplifier has the most high definition sound ? +1 @douglas_schroeder -- but the fact remains, when all other pieces of the audio system are dialed in and set, the amp choice still matters. As with everything in audio, the chain is only as strong as its weakest link. And you can carry that down...
What class of amplifier has the most high definition sound ? @georgehifi -- have u looked at Audiokinesis?
Dueland I'm sorry. I'm an idiot. And I learned something. Might be tough to resell them though. Just another thought.
Upgrade A/V Receiver or get 5 Ch. Amp What makes you think you don't have enough power for your center speaker? Are you hearing strain or distortion? I'd think 125wpc should be fine, especially since you're only driving the center and surrounds with the Marantz.
Yg Carmel 1 versus Magico S1 Mk 1 Wow. Tough choice and two great speakers. I will say tough, if it were me I wouldn't buy either without first listening to Magico's own A3, Joseph Audio Perspectives, Vandy Quattros, or ProAc D48s. On a personal note, on a very serendipitous day...
Dueland Are you saying one cable will be 5 feet long and the other 13 feet? I don't have the science behind this, but I'd think it'd have to introduce differences in resistance and other things as well. I wouldn't do this if this is what you're thinking...
Wilson Sasha Daws or Sabrinas Go listen to Joseph Audio Perspectives, Vandy Quattro, or ProAc 48R and potentially save yourself a lot of $$$.
Auditioning had a huge affect on my potential budget Listen to all the great advice given above. You clearly have the ears to be a completely sick audiophile like the rest of us here. You appreciate things a lot of people either don't hear or don't care about. You are absolutely correct that Anth...
Full Range under $5k-ish Here's a demo pair of Nola KO2s from a dealer who is apparently selling off inventory. No offense to your Def Techs that are very good speakers for the money, the KO2s will bring you to another level entirely on every level. The reason I'm recom...
smaller room monitors Silverline Preludes are a great all-around choice for small floorstanders. For monitors the Nola Boxers are on the slightly warmer side of neutral so may fit very well with what you're looking for sonically. Best of luck.
Metrum Onyx versus Metrum Pavane I think they use tubes, which I think helps with the sense of utter dimensionality that owners seem to rave about. No idea if better or worse than Metrum (that's always a personal decision anyway), but I think the use of tubes will make them soun...
Metrum Onyx versus Metrum Pavane Interesting thread as I also was wondering about this given the large price difference between the two. I guess the implementation of the output stage, etc. is good or similar enough in the Onyx that the extra expensive DAC chips don't make all t...
When/why to upgrade? What cables, interconnects, power cords, and power conditioning are you using?
Do preamps have a material affect on high level sources? Thing is, modern preamps are so clear that even several of them in series hardly is even noticeable. I generally agree with Lizzy, but in this case I must disagree. IME, the preamp has a HUGE effect on the sound you ultimately hear from your syst...
3 things I learned from using MANY interconnect cables Very interesting and refreshingly objective. Chord is now on my radar although relatively rare here in the US. Very nice post! |
