Audiophile Goal Perfect Center Image Music is recorded/mixed in stereo and needs to be reproduced that way with two speakers. That the one Wisdom speaker sounded good, while maybe surprising, is irrelevant — only real question is how much better it would’ve sounded with two line-arr...
Is Tidal messing up for you? Would you Choose Amazon over it? Incidentally, Tidal’s MQA algorithm alters the original content to what “they think” sounds better. No thanks. Also, MQA greatly restricts your choice of DACs. IMHO the ONLY reason to consider Tidal is if you have WiFi data limitations that ca...
McCormack dna-1 upgrade or no @richiekess I feel your pain as I’m in a similar sitch. I had a Bryston SST2 in my system and will say it was comparable to my 0.5 Rev A but not better, so I gotta believe one of Steve’s amps with his latest upgrades should be significantly bette...
Intergrated Amp suggestions for B&W 805d4 Budget?
Just got some AudioEngine A5+ speaker and they blow my mind I went the opposite direction. I have a $25k “big rig” and, due to family/life situations ramped up a good HeadFi system featuring Hifiman Arya Stealths ‘phones, Singxer SA1 amp, Musician Pegasus DAC, Lavri and Acoustic Zen Silver Ref cables, and ...
Fiber Optic Internet...best way to connect to system BTW, I’ve been hearing Fios is really the only service that offers fiber right into the home. Could be wrong, but Consumer Reports ranks Fios higher than most other service providers. Google is a new player and seem to get really good reviews fo...
Is Tidal messing up for you? Would you Choose Amazon over it? So are they implying that America’s streaming service has corrupt files, and I need to VPN to get their service through another country? It’s free to try a Qobuz subscription, so just do that and see what happens. I will say that when I took my...
McCormack dna-1 upgrade or no I don’t know... putting another $2,500 in an already upgraded amp that is around 25 years old probably won’t get you much more. @koestner Not sure I agree. Many people here who’ve done Steve’s latest upgrades have been very happy and I’m sure t...
Warm but holographic & forward vocals. I think Dynaudio is a great suggestion, and I’d also highly recommend ProAc, Usher, and Joseph Audio. BTW, soundstage can be holographic, but midrange is a frequency and tends to be described more by tonality, definition, and dynamics, FWIW.
Interesting comment on Bose Speakers..... Bose did it’s research and created exactly what the consumer market wanted, a little loudspeaker that sounded like a big one. @mijostyn I completely agree, but it doesn’t sound like a good speaker and people are being led to believe, through pu...
Do the surrounds really need much power @2048tm This post is almost 21 years old. Check the dates before you respond.
Interesting comment on Bose Speakers..... I think @erik_squires got it exactly right... They are 100% focused on achieving sales results by crafting the cheapest possible product consumers will spend a lot of money on I would just add that they prey on largely ignorant consumers and w...
Interesting comment on Bose Speakers..... just an owner of Bose who enjoys the sound. Lets get off the bandwagon of I am an audiophile and you are not because I do or dint own bose. On the cheap driver issue how do they achieve decent bass on the 301s I have in rotation? and a very simpl...
new headphones recommendation? grado gs3000e or… Audeze ‘phones are great, but if you’re looking for “sparkling highs” they might not be the best fit. FWIW.
Better R2R DAC Recommendation? Yeah, if you like the sound of the Ares the Pontus ll is supposed to be a significant upgrade, so unless you’re looking for different sound characteristics that’s absolutely what I’d do. Best of luck. |
