ETHERNET CABLES @12many Goodonya! At least you have an open mind, and I totally get wanting to do a blind comparison. There are some here who refuse to even try something just because they don’t “believe” it’ll make a difference, which I honestly don’t even und...
What do you do when you inherit some gear that you don’t want. I’d sell the speakers, the A23+, and the Arcam and upgrade to an A21+ (a much better amp IMHO) and a good DSP like something from DSpeaker to help integrate the subs. FWIW.
B&W Loudspeakers Pricing Yeah, I don’t see retailers generously passing on the savings upfront unless B&W requires them to lower their MSRP. But, even if the prices don’t come down it might create a little more wiggle room in a price negotiation situation. Of course...
Does creating a loom in cables in a system make a significant difference? Man, I’m SO tempted to just say yes, but my experience is that cables can be such a crapshoot who the hell knows? I personally think there’s more than one road to success here, so unfortunately that means it’s really a trial and error affair in th...
HDMI send loud clipping and noise Try a new HDMI cable, especially if you can try a component hookup as recommended above and don’t hear the problem. HDMI cables are pretty fragile and I’ve had them fail before, especially if it gets bent too far. Also, go as short as you can as...
Slight buzz through speakers While I applaud all your efforts and certainly sympathize, the best/easiest thing to do at this point is to call Mac and see what they suggest. I personally am not a fan of Mac products — just not my taste — but they’re a quality company and expe...
Router for Audio Streaming I think so. Look, if it doesn’t work just get another streamer and you’re done. I don’t like to fuss with this stuff and just wanna get to the simplest/best option, and this is what I’d do. I don’t think I’m using a mesh network cause I’ll just be...
Router for Audio Streaming I can’t tell you why an extender and Ethernet cable can help sonically yet as I’ve still got to get mine hooked up, but many experienced people here with very good setups say they sound better than Wi-Fi so I’m all in and it’s not all that expensi...
Order of importance and budget percentages @overthemoon I hear ya, but I’d never use the word “forever” in this hobby — it’s both a fantasy and the kiss of death.
BluSound Node and Node 2 @wahoostewjr What a great example of how much everything matters in a streaming setup — wish everyone understood this. Great amp and speaks BTW. Now start playing with Ethernet cables, switches, digital cables etc. and max it out cause it’ll all...
ETHERNET CABLES @12many Thanks for being so cordial and accepting of another opinion. If only all differing opinions could be this way. Listen, how about you and I do something of a challenge? I’m gonna buy a generic Ethernet cable and compare it to my Wireworld ...
BluSound Node and Node 2 +1 @61falcon if you’re using Wi-Fi to streamer, especially the uninstall and reinstall the app part but it all matters. If I have to deal with any of this crap going hard wired to streamer I’d absolutely punt my streamer out the window and look e...
BluSound Node and Node 2 @12many Im not 100% sure, but I don’t think it matters whether you go wired from an iPhone, a switch/router, or Wi-Fi extender as I think Wi-Fi to the Zen Stream from Qobuz/MConnect is what occasionally causes the problem. Everyone I’ve heard fro...
Router for Audio Streaming I’d try a Wi-Fi extender like the TP-Link AC2600 MU-MIMO and run an Ethernet cable into your streamer from the extender rather than using Wi-Fi and see if that works. If that doesn’t work, get a better router and stop having to deal with this cra...
ETHERNET CABLES +1 @audphile1 and jibes well with my post above. |
