Can anyone identify theses B&W speakers? @nats1956 I don’t care what price you’re offering the 801 D4s. The OP is looking at original Nautilus 804 or 803 speakers at an estate sale that, even heavily discounted, your 801 D4s will be in an entirely different price stratosphere. You’re bar...
Can anyone identify theses B&W speakers? Please disregard @nats1956 He’s not answering your question and is clearly just trying to sell speakers that’ll clearly be out of your price range by many multiples.
Cumulative Effect of cables question Sounds like the Isocleans are just not a good fit for your tastes/system, so take that as a huge clue. Please fill in the rest of your components and cables and what improvements you’re looking for. There are plenty of cables that can improve im...
Tube rolling newbie- how to choose NOS tubes As a tube newbie myself, I’m more than happy to pay up a bit for a reputable tube expert with a reasonable return policy to point me in the right direction and who will likely save me considerable time and $$$ from buying either the wrong or bad t...
Looking for advise with selecting next integrated amp +1 @ghdprentice If you have good components you really should have no need for tone controls. Plus, once you enact them they will enter the signal path and will likely degrade to overall performance of the amp. If you feel the need for tone cont...
Can anyone identify theses B&W speakers? It’s either the 804 or 803 Nautilus or Nautilus S. Compare the measurements — the 803 is bigger.
Integrating HT and 2-channel systems @tony1954 I just recommended 12:00 for ease of use, but he could just as well set the reference volume on the stereo at 9:00 and set the HT channel volume levels from there — problem solved.
Help in new processor purchase The AVM 60 is great and has pretty darn good room correction software — is that not working? My first recommendation would be to add a second sub to improve/even out bass performance and enhance overall imaging/soundstage. Just my $0.02 FWIW, an...
Thinking about getting some bookshelf/standmount speakers From what I’ve read the Perspective II is a meaningful upgrade but with the Pulsar the improvements are not as dramatic. If budget is an issue I’d have no problem getting the original Pulsar and think you’d be absolutely thrilled with them. Just...
Thinking about getting some bookshelf/standmount speakers Budget upper limit is around $5K used. I do want a disappearing act set of speakers. Wait for a nice pair of Joseph Audio Pulsars to show up. JA speakers pull off one of the best disappearing acts in the biz and will be well worth the wait.
Upgrade Cables or Just Upgrade Equipment & Live in Shame? Distributed bass array?
Tube Amp with a Preamp and Headphone Jacks +1 @ghdprentice You want a separate headphone amp to do your headphones justice. I’d highly recommend the Quicksilver tubed headphone amp, which, at about $1200 or so is quite a bargain and will certainly give you that tube magic. http://quicks...

Integrating HT and 2-channel systems The AVR will need to be able to "pre-out" the front channels separately and the integrated (or preamp) must have a "home theatre bypass". Once setup this will allow the AVR to use the integrated to power the front channels, while still allowing ...
Considering Zu Dirty Weekend over my current B&w 702s2 Ah. Good to know. Schiit DACs aren’t known to be sterile sounding nor are your interconnects or amp so I’d look elsewhere. Given all the info I think trying new speakers makes sense, and the DWs will certainly sound very different. |
