How do you feel about Eggleston Speakers? They make good speakers. I reviewed a pair of Fountaine Signatures a while back and was impressed, and I’m sure the Savoys are a lot better. But, then again, speakers are very personal so I’d suggest reading reviews to see if they offer the soun...
Apple iPad music streamer @cincyjim If you want a nice upgrade swap out the Camera Adapter for this and you’ll hear more of everything. https://www.lavricables.com/cables/reference-silver-lightning-interconnect-cable-for-oppo-ha-2-centrance-mini-m8/
Speaker Height Problem Well, a simple and very cost-effective solution would be to get a bunch of hockey pucks to raise the speakers, but you could also try experimenting with tilting the speakers back a bit so the tweeters are aimed closer to your ears — or a combinati...
Don’t buy used McCormack DNA 1990s amps @kchamber Thanks for sharing this valuable info!
What are some good Amplifier choices for Martin logan ESL 15A? Really depends on what improvements you’re looking for over what you have now and what sound characteristics are most important to you. I will say my friend runs his MLs with a Bryston 3B SST2 with great results so maybe something in the SST2 or ...
DAC/Pre-Amp Advice I’m gonna reiterate — focus on the DAC, two subs, and speaker positioning first and then worry about room correction after that. You’re trying to do too much at once IMHO.
Apple iPad music streamer There are too many variables here. What’s your equipment in your office system? Adding a streamer will get you better sound versus streaming through your iPad/iPhone, especially if you’re using the headphone Jack. Yuck. I even bought a higher-...
Looking for a good small subwoofer... @jjss49 Nah, he’s just a little horny, that’s all.
Using streaming as a main source ---DSD, FLAC, MQA Streamers and DACS Buying used can be your friend as you can turn around and sell it for not much loss as long as you buy well. Here is a very good streamer and excellent DAC that together would come in well under $7k — just one example. https://www.usaudiomart.co...
Looking for a good small subwoofer... He could get a pair of SVS SB1000 Pro subs for only $1350. They’re basically 13” cubes with 15” depth, are sealed with a 12” driver, will get down to an honest 20Hz (-3dB), and includes integration software that lets you dial in the subs from the...
Under my tower speakers -- Isoacoustics Gaia, other options? Given you have a cement floor, I’d look first to your electronics for vibration control with the Townshend pods… https://www.townshendaudio.com/hi-fi-home-cinema-equipment-vibration-isolation/seismic-isolation-pods/
DAC/Pre-Amp Advice Try the speakers 6’ apart and another 1-2’ out from the front wall. You should experience a nice boost in 3D imaging and larger/deeper soundstage and maybe even better overall frequency balance. Just try it and see what you find. And again, ang...
I2s versus AES/EBU to connect an streamer/server to a DAC? Check with your DAC manufacturer as to which input is preferable. It’s most likely i2S, and if that’s the case a DHLabs HDMI 2.1 is a solid recommendation, but use the shortest length possible as i2S wasn’t designed for distance. Best of luck.
SPDIF Coax cable recommendation? This is a little above your budget but will be worth it. Read the reviews. I was using a well-respected Apogee Wyde Eye but as soon as I put this in it was night and day better in every way. Best of luck. https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/64...
Don’t buy used McCormack DNA 1990s amps @davidbeagrace The only place I’m aware of who renews/upgrades the amps is SMcAudio who built the amps originally but worth exploring CJ. However, you might also wanna contact @bigkidz as he may be willing/able to help as well. |
