Under my tower speakers -- Isoacoustics Gaia, other options? Given you have a cement floor, I’d look first to your electronics for vibration control with the Townshend pods… https://www.townshendaudio.com/hi-fi-home-cinema-equipment-vibration-isolation/seismic-isolation-pods/
DAC/Pre-Amp Advice Try the speakers 6’ apart and another 1-2’ out from the front wall. You should experience a nice boost in 3D imaging and larger/deeper soundstage and maybe even better overall frequency balance. Just try it and see what you find. And again, ang...
I2s versus AES/EBU to connect an streamer/server to a DAC? Check with your DAC manufacturer as to which input is preferable. It’s most likely i2S, and if that’s the case a DHLabs HDMI 2.1 is a solid recommendation, but use the shortest length possible as i2S wasn’t designed for distance. Best of luck.
SPDIF Coax cable recommendation? This is a little above your budget but will be worth it. Read the reviews. I was using a well-respected Apogee Wyde Eye but as soon as I put this in it was night and day better in every way. Best of luck. https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/64...
Don’t buy used McCormack DNA 1990s amps @davidbeagrace The only place I’m aware of who renews/upgrades the amps is SMcAudio who built the amps originally but worth exploring CJ. However, you might also wanna contact @bigkidz as he may be willing/able to help as well.
DAC/Pre-Amp Advice but listening to the difference in room correction made me a believer. Yeah, I hear ya and I’m a believer too. I have the speakers toe'd in toward my seating position in the room. So, how far are the speakers from the front and side wall...
DAC/Pre-Amp Advice With that system adding room correction is a pain. I also don't like the idea of room correction for stereo sound. +1 @travelinjack I’d focus on the other stuff first and then deal with room correction later. @chuck_tamu Why do you feel you ne...
DAC/Pre-Amp Advice @kota1 Good questions. Normally it’d be connected through the tape monitor jacks, but as I just saw his Yammy doesn’t have that it might be as easy as connecting the anti-mode between the pre out and main in jacks, but that’d need to be checked — ...
Which Audio Research preamp? Might be worth a stretch for this LS27… https://www.ebay.com/itm/394422689466
DAC/Pre-Amp Advice Below are recommendations for subwoofers (you should get two), a DAC, and a room correction device. With two subs the total would be about $3350. You don’t need a preamp as you’ve already got a nice integrated amp. https://www.svsound.com/product...
diffuser or absorption panels, which would you choose? That’s really just a silly either/or question. Use what works best for the sound of your room. I’d recommend diffusers behind your speakers and absorptive panels at first reflection points and possibly between your speakers along with maybe bass...
Network optimization for serious streamers Thanks for sharing your experience and all the great info! Running a secondary router makes intuitive sense, but I would’ve never thought to do that. I think the most important thing is minimizing latency within your network in order to avoi...
Emotiva or Anthem or Something Else? Here’s an excellent deal on one of the new Yammy AVRs if it has enough power for you… https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/yamrxa2a-rb/yamaha-rx-a2a-7.2-ch-x-100-watts-a/v-receiver/1.html
What next? Part Two “Budget is flexible” is insufficient. You really need to give a range.
Denon x4700h DAC change The DAC chip is only one part of the digital chain, and as noted above Denon seems to have redesigned the circuit to “tune the sound” around the new chip, so given that I’d be surprised if there’s a huge difference in sound. I’d just keep it, espe... |
