Magnepan Owners - Need Your Thoughts Please
Use amps that are musical for long term enjoyment. The speakers only need to play, as loud as you like to listen...and 100's of watts won't be required in your case.(you have the horns for head banging SPL's).Dave
Time to change speakers again
Yes, a lot of us do that....you are not alone.Dave
Primaluna and Rogue
DonjrI'll be very surprised if you don't find the Cronus Magnum to be a big step up in every area of music playback from the NAD....even the bass reproduction.Dave
What floats your boat, sound wise that it?
Musical for sure (toes tapping and my head bobbing as Tvad says)....very good tone ( I like a thrill every time I listen...goose bumps if in the sweet spot.I must have full range reproduction (or very near it) to enjoy my wide range of musical tas...
Polk,BA,Klipsch,Infinity.....80s-90s
I would include Snell, Mirage, and ADS from that time frame also.Dave
Primaluna and Rogue
LearsfoolWell the higher power Rogue amps are a bad match for your speakers (which are fairly bright sounding on their own).Just as the Primaluna would not be a good match for my Apogee speakers. The amp must fill the need of the user.Dave
Primaluna and Rogue
Hawk28No, the heat factor doesn't bother me....just thought I would warn you. I'm told that the Rogue 150's run fairly cool.My Rogue 120 Magnums replaced a Krell Ksa-250 in my system, and they both give off about the same amount of heat driving my...
Primaluna and Rogue
The Rogue 120's run pretty hot (at least my 120 Magnums do)....I'd probably go with the 150's, if you should decide to go with Rogue.Dave
pass or krell
Get a tube preamp, the tubes last thousands of hours...and you can change the sound a bit, by only switching from one pair of tubes to another.A little change every now and then is the spice of life IMO.Dave
Do subwoofers really help?
BobrockHow in the world do you expect anyone to help you when you supply nothing but general information? Do you think anyone here knows what speakers you are even talking about? And why in the world would you need a $4,000 amp to drive your speake...
Do subwoofers really help?
No, it's smarter to get a better amp. Why would anyone try to match speakers to an amp? I find speakers I like...and then buy the amp they need (unless my current amp works fine with my new speakers).Of course, if you have a good pair of speakers,...
Please recommend a budget tube dac
Pick up a Monarchy M-24...it's a tube preamp, and a tube DAC (you don't have to use the preamp if you don't want to)....around $700 used,The preamp section is very good, and the DAC is outstanding. If you use the preamp...you can sell the one you h...
Windows 7 for Audio or Video, yes - No?
I'm sold on Windows 7 after using it for the last 5 months.....Linux has been my operating system of choice for the last 5 years.Dave
Does ATSC QAM mean it has a built in HD tuner ?
I think so....and cable non-scrambled hi-def. My computer card picks up Comcast non-scrambled hi-def QAM channels, and I think it would do the same thing for over the air, if I hooked an over the air antenna to it.I'm no expert though.Dave
Bass rant
I haven't heard a good car system either, although I'm sure there most be some?I think "Audyssey" has a car acoustic correction unit on the market?....I know I like what mine does for my bass in my home system.Dave
