Does one NEED multiple amps?
I have tube and solid state amps...I think many audiophiles have at least two or more amps around most of the time. I'd be somewhat surprised if they did not.Dave
Review: Rogue Audio Cronus Tube amp
I bought Rogue M-120 Magnums around 2 months ago...one of my best buys ever in the bank for buck department."This amp just oozes quality though and through. It's comforting to know that Made In The USA still means something"I agree....someone at R...
Best preamp is no preamp: always true?
UnsoundThought I better stir pot.Dave
Best preamp is no preamp: always true?
Solman989You can add the Manley Stingray to your list also. I guess no one will be wanting to own these integrated components now that you have let this cat out of the bag...they must sound very dull and lifeless.Dave
Best Speaker "Flooring" Material for the house ?
Concrete floors are good...an un-like surface area in relation to whats usually up top...drywall ceiling.Concrete also offers much better isolation from vibration of components caused by deep bass, or people... (kids).Carpet or wood flooring over ...
How does home theatre pass through work?
In that type of setup...everything in regards to two channel reproduction will be connected directly into the two channel preamp...the prepro will not be in use at all.Hometheater and anything else you choose to connect directly to the prepro will...
is it sacrilege?
HeHe, my wife always did the same thing with my VMPS towers...very popular wife thing! Put something under them so they don't vibrate, or scratch should the get knocked over.Good thing about my planer speakers...nothing like that will fit on top.Dave
Bad idea? Budget int. tube amp with Maggie 1.6's?
Philjolet"I have owned maggie 1.6 and tried Rogue 120 magnum and also manley stingray and quite frankly the stingray sounded more alive and is suprisingly a great match. I was going to mention it before reading the post above. One more vote for th...

Rogue Audio integrated maybe?...I'm using the M-120 Magnums to drive my Apogee Duetta signatures. Better bass than the Krell Kav-500 they replaced, just as deep and twice as musical!...who said tube amps can't do bass.Dave
Which Patricia Barber album floats yer boat?
I have most of her cd's, they all "float my boat" to some degree...I find here an interesting artist. None of my friends or family as far as I can recall have ever requested playback of any of her music...to quirky I guess. So, I never use her to s...
How to tame the midrange???
Someone else with your problem posted at the audioasylum forum...not exactly your speakers but maybe worth reading?http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/speakers/messages/213989.htmlDave
Best preamp is no preamp: always true?
Well, lets see...I can think of a member here at Audiogon with a mega buck system that uses (or at least did use) a passive in his system....I don't think he's hard of hearing, and he's sure not a newbee. If I recall he had the Placette Audio passi...
How to tame the midrange???
"the grain in the midrange comes from the tweeked up treble for the hard of hearing"HeHe, thats nice of them to build speakers for the hard of hearing....wondering why they don't use this in their ad copy.Dave
Can anyone suggest a good 2-channel amp for $1500
Well, you did say tube amps... and solid state amps. I'll agree with illenema2@wmconnect.com...Rogue Audio M-120 Magnums. I think more like $1,700-$2,000 though for the Magnum version of these amps.I've never heard any solid state amp that can bet...

"From my experience, 3V is min for passive"I pretty much agree with you, my experience as well.Dave
