Potential new room, will this work well?
JkalmanI've read his posts before...he is not a total newbee. His question was fairly general...so was my answer. I left the exact placement of the "new" rear wall for him. The other walls, and the ceiling are already fixed in place...yes?If he do...
Potential new room, will this work well?
JkalmanSure, you can read all you want....still, I said 8' "or so"...With 40' to work with, I don't see a problem that can't be worked out....thats more than comforting, it's a fact. Also, with a room that large, you will have the advantage of opti...
Potential new room, will this work well?
Taking 8' (or so) away from the 40' will not have a big effect (if any) in a room that large...It may help, more than hurt.Large rooms don't suffer acoustical problems to the same degree that small rooms do, unless they are to large....thats anoth...
Speakers for $140 or less
At that price, stay local....Craigslist, pawnshop, garage sale...ect. No shipping cost.Dave
Need Some Expert advice
I'm not big on mixing tube amps with solid state for home theater (mostly, because I've been there and done that). If you must:Most people would set this system up in a home theater pass through configuration... Modwright connected to the tube amps...
NHT-X2 Crossover
I don't think the Paradigm X-20 does hi-pass....the X-30 does (50/80/120hz). The X-30 has two sub outputs (mono)....phase control only effects the right sub output (if that matters).Dave
Poll - Active vs. Passive preamp
I'm using an active tube preamp (Audioprism Mantissa), before the Mantissa, I used a passive TVC (Bent Audio).Different systems, same results....I'm happy.Dave
Monitor SPL vs. Full-Range SPL
I'll add only this, as freq's go down, you won't hear them as louder...probably, you won't hear them at all.Deep bass is felt more than heard.Dave
Better than nose pickin'.....
Yep, my wife brings home any trash finds she thinks I would be interested in...Stereo components, albums, computers......And, she always calls from garage sales, if she spots something there, that she thinks I may be interested in.Dave
How many have heard the Beveridge Electrostatics?
I have not heard the new ones, I have listened to the old ones (when they were new) years ago...very good!...one of the best I had ever heard at that time, except no deep bass.I'd love to hear the new modelsDave
Which CD failed you on bass notes?
"Missouri Sky" has great bass tone, deep bass, and midbass are active "often enough" to zero in on the finer details of the blend between speaker system and sub. It's very hard to fine tune with test tones.Dave
How Much Is Too Much?
I listen at between 75db-85db, 99.9% of the time....plenty loud for me! Live music is like watching a good movie...the thrill is not always in the sound. My system sounds better than most live events....minus 80% of the thrill factor.Loud....thats...
Is there such a DAC?
I think you have been doing to much reading...why don't you just buy a DAC you like?Dave
What are you getting for $12k in a pre-pro?
"The Theater Grand does have the db-25 6-channel input on the back, but there is no db-25 output on the dvd player"Many cable makers, will make you a cable....rca's on one end, db-25 connection on the other...no big thing. Can't help with the rest,...
Carver sonic holography
It works well with some speaker systems. I don't like it with my Apogees...sounds good with my bookshelf VMPS's though.Dave
