Do you ...Center Channel?
I use one, I could live without it though (depending on where I'm sitting). Dave
Cost no Object but Small Room
There is nothing wrong with a room that size, as long as it is a dedicated room. Any number of "cost no object" speakers could sound great in that room...take a look at the MBL line of speakers for one.Dave
High end surround processors vs Vacuum tube HT
I've done the same thing in the past. I didn't like everyone turning on, and off, my tubed gear though.I'm lucky enough to have a fairly large, and dedicated room though, so I went back to two systems... (in one room).Had I stayed on the multichan...

1 or 2 subwoofer for small room & placement
I use two subs, however...I've found that two are not really needed unless you are going to cross them over at a fairly hi crossover point, ie...80HZ and above. My subs and mains blend great at around 65hz in my room. They are behind the main speak...

A musical subwoofer
Mechans"The sub has to avoid "bone crushing" bass, which we termed sound effects style subwoofers"Ah, your building one of those "Mid-bass Modules"...I saw one at the Hsu Research site the other day. Those aren't really subs...ie, true subwoofers ...
Any 5.1 processor with integrated 3 ch amp
The (Outlaw Audio)surround receiver should fit your shelf and has preouts. The biggest problem?... is it's power output, which may, or may not be a problem at all...depending on your speaker choices for center and rears.Dave
A musical subwoofer
Sounds like you guys will have a lot of fun, I use a pair of subs (VMPS) with my Apogee Duetta Signatures, so I know that subs "do work" with panals. My subs do withstand the rigor of HT (each has an active 15" and 12"...along with a passive 15").....
Any 5.1 processor with integrated 3 ch amp
The was a company that made an add on unit (they were DD only) years ago, 100 watts center/rears... they do show up at Ebay once in a while for around $50-$100.However, like Reubent said...get a receiver with preouts and your set.Dave
My Setup - arasound - Adcom - McIntoshNo Low-end?
Get a SPL meter and measure...you can download a free test cd from "Realtraps". You may have your speakers placed at a null point?...try moving them around as you measure.Another thought...don't those (McIntosh) require the MQ101 or MQ102 equalize...
