The Sony XA777es: two seconds for tray to close, ten seconds for play to begin.
P.Gabriel in Hi-fi +...a real treat.
Thanks Ben, Peter Gabriel has always been someone to do things a little different, I have none of his sacd's yet but hope to soon.
Need some audiogon expertise
Not sure about the tower II's, but I have the super tower/r's which are the next model up. Make sure your speaker cables are in the lower set of inputs on the speakers and the switch is in the down position if they have this on them, The switch is...
VMPS Super Tower III vs. Pipedreams
The Super Tower III's are the top of the Vmps line of speakers, above even the new RMX Elixer. They must be bi-amped and can be tri-amped. They cost $21,000-$24,000 depending on your choice of finish. They are huge and heavy speakers but do have f...
FAST and NOT THIN sounding PC recommendation?
Xxxjo, any power cord that does not limit current will not degrade sound or cause damage to your equipment. There is no such thing as a fast or slow power cord, you could forget that part of your hunt I would say.
Questions about DAC's and Processors
Set player output to bitstream to disable it's processors. Hook 5.1 analog cables to pre/pro for music surround, hook digital cable from player to pre/pro so that pre/pro can decode movies, hook your other degital cable from player to your dac for...
Best Musical Home Theater 5-channel Amp/PreAmp
Take a look at the stuff from outlaw.com, they have good prices and are very well respected as high bang for buck company. Agree also on the Rotel for the same reason. Sorry, that should read: Outlawaudio.com, The new Stereophile guide to homethea...
What am I going to do with all of this junk?
The old sansui tuners go for $150-$200 all the time on E-bay. They were not a bad sounding tuner and are still in demand even in todays market.
Going from an ARC CD-2 to Sony XA-777 ?
I have the XA-777es, It is a fantastic sacd player and a good redbook player. I think the CD-2 may be the winner of the two on redbook cd's. I am happy with mine though and plan on keeping it for a long while, I've had it for a year now and have h...
Merlin VMS versus VMPS RM-40 versus Proac 3.8
Your welcome, hope it works out for you to get a listen.
Merlin VMS versus VMPS RM-40 versus Proac 3.8
Well Blueshirt, there is an owner of the RM-40's that hangs out at Harmonic Discord's VMPS forum, he lives in N.Y. and has let a few people from that area come over to listen. I would drop a post on that forum, he may see it and offer a listen.
Terminology?
Pre-Pro is: Pre amp with digital processor. Did you mean: Medulla oblongada: Lower portion of the brainstem?
Mixing amplifiers.
If you are going to mix amps, your first example would be best. If your going to use the little Marantz mono's, use them everywere. Outlaw audio has some mono's at there site you may want to check out, these would be a good match with there bigger...
Attention audio/video guru's ? re. dvd-audio
Dvd audio defaults to dvd audio so that you don't have to go into the player menu each time you play a dvd audio disc. Set the player menu to output DD/DTS in bitstream. This may help out.
Is their a CD recorder that can do this ?
Sean is right, your sonics will take a hit. Most of the new burn programs have a setting in the recorder menue called volume leveling that you can turn on.
