Tekton Design's new THE PERFECT SET equals "goosebumps time"
invictus005As we read almost every day, the theft of intellectual property from overseas has reached an alarming level as evidenced by how every year more and more of our own products are no longer made here.  With this in mind, it makes absolut...
The invention of measurements and perception
@erik_squires After reading through this thread, my experience is that for measurements and math to fully and completely able to describe and define something in a predictable and repeatable way requires that the "problem" be properly understood ...
Tekton Design's new THE PERFECT SET equals "goosebumps time"
@TeajayNo doubt that loudspeakers will NEVER be a one size fits all product. And no doubt that Tekton’s ad copy about obsoleting other loudspeakers is like raw meat to the lions.... but as those in the ad business will often say, “as long as they a...
Tekton Design's new THE PERFECT SET equals "goosebumps time"
Teajay.... have you tried the perfect set with more powerful amps yet?
Are many audiophiles only seeking approval of the next purchase?
What is clear from even light reading of almost any forum is that what sounds great to you in your home may not impress me... and in my house may actually sound poor... for a number of well understood reasons. Audio is not unlike Automobiles... ve...
Tube Sound Question
@ atmasphereSomewhat of a side question...if it is 2nd order harmonics and less odd order harmonics that contribute to the sense of smoothness....what aspect of tubes...amp or preamp...is it that contributes to the increased sense of spaciousness?
Tube Sound Question
@noromanceActually, I started this thread out of curiosity and because I hadn't yet found this thread...which as it turns out, discusses the question in detail.https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/for-tube-sound-which-is-more-important-preamp-or...
Tube Sound Question
@noromance so, when you switched to a tube power amp to go with your tube preamp... how much “tubier” did the sound get... or in other words is your sound now 30% preamp and 70% power amp... or some other ratio??
Shipping speakers
And....don't forget, even if the buyer doesn't mention it, the shipment needs to be insured....."just in case"
If you love SET amplifiers, boy do I have speaker for you.
Thanks... teajay... seems like these may be a nice step up from my Lores... which are no slouches. On the other hand the tekton Perfect Set should be interesting also.  The “12” transducer should punch pretty hard so I suspect it will be a compari...

@teajay I'm really interested from your HTR review that the Model 50 seems to throw a massive and immersive soundstage...which is something I really value.  One question I have is whether their deep bass also translates to that mid bass slam facto...
Belles 22a Preamplifier
Belles 22a Update@joegator81   Before I acquired the Belles 22a, I purchased a Nuprime STA9 and DAC9...based on reviews and based on the Nuprime description that this combination tended toward the warm (tube) side of musical presentation. They didn...
2 way vs 3 way question
So, I'd like to re-frame the question and see what people think:If I'm going to use a decent sub to shore up 45hz and below....and I set a speaker budget of $2000...is it possible to get a 2 way that sounds as good (wide soundstage, good tone, goo...
Best bookshelf speakers
stuff_jones A few thoughts....about everything that has been said so far1.  you should consider all of the speakers that have been suggested as "candidates" for you to audition at home...just because it sounds good in someone else's home with the...
2 way vs 3 way question
Tomic601.... good point on on the cost difference... so no more than 15% more on the 3 way as a reference point. Just as an example... look at Salk... they have similarly priced 2 ways and 3 ways... at a given price point, can the 2 ways really eq...
