The Vandersteen/ARC room used a variety of treatments including live plants and devices (diffusers) from the room acoustics arm of HRS (the racks of choice at this years RMAF), to very good effect. My buddy commented that at first glance they look...

Output tube radiation exposure - thoughts?
My advice: Don't eat yer tubes, and you'll be OK. This is good advice if you live in an old house with lead paint, as well. 
Help with wobbly rack
Use two sets of L brackets and a couple of pieces of wood to secure the rack to the wall studs behind it.

While not Middle Eastern per se, "Su" by Turkish artist Mercan Dede might be to your liking.Lisa Gerrard of Dead Can Dance also had a lot of involvement in the film "Baraka" There is some very haunting "Gladiator" like music there too.
