Please help with your opinion
I'm generally not in agreement that your amp is near the end of its life. I have two Yamaha amps from that period and they are both out-to-equally performing in comparison to some of the much newer and more expensive amps I've had chance to hear. ...
start me off
I second what Elevick stated based upon direct experience and a discerning ear.
What music do you want to play really loud?
Soundgarden's "SuperUnknown"
Sunday morning music...what's spinning?
I play & sing with the band at my church (CMA). We really rock with the better Christian music. Extremely inspirational. Normally play 5 songs each Sunday morning at service.
Who's your guitar daddy now?
It's still Jeff Beck.
Sota Reflex Clamp Loses Contact with Record
I have a new NOVA. I've owned two Star Sapphires. It has not been my experience that with the vacuum the lp falls away from the Reflex Clamp because I have always clamped the Clamp down. Although weighty and given the great vacuum suction the clam...
Sota Reflex Clamp Loses Contact with Record
I have the Origin Live Illustrious coupled with a Shelter 90x and it does not exhibit any such problems.
What components are manufactured in the U.S.A.?
SOTA products
Sota Reflex Clamp Loses Contact with Record
I've had one SOTA table or another for years. Donna at SOTA advised me to simply put a solid object beneath the table just at the center point of the platter. Leave just enough room for the suspension to work but not so much that one stresses it w...
Best blues guitarist, Clapton or Green
Albert King. The man practically invented the "bending strings" technique. I also 2nd Jimmy D. Lane. Believe Mr. Clapton would agree that Mr. Green is one-up on him. Use to have the same discussions in grade school. Then our prime choices were Hen...
The times have savaged my system
There's a Yamaha CR-1020 receiver on sale on A'Gon right now. I have owned one since 1979 and can tell you this is a terrific unit. It was built when Yamaha was at top of their game.
What to do with bad recorded CDs
Get a decent equalizer unit. I know it goes against the perfectionist in us but it really makes a difference on badly manufactured CDs, albums, cassettes, & reel to reel tape. I would be unhappy without mine to use when it can actually improve...
Phono stage with volume control?
Art Audio Vinyl One. Wonderful performer. I first purchased EAR 834B and then PS Audio GCPH. These both had great sound quality. With my set up I find the Vinyl One notably better. I've had it now for 2 years +.
Anyone here using vintage speakers?
McIntosh XR-7 (2 pairs), McIntosh XR-5 (1 pair), JBL L-65 (one pair). I have the Macs coupled with the 107 Equalizers. The Macs reproduce just about everything wonderfully. The JBLs sound best with quality rock.I enjoy them all.
Bruce at The Super Bowl....
Sorry. He should have retired on top. Use to be the real thing. Loved him when he was coming up. I was working in NYC + living NJ then. Saw him at local bars in Hoboken and Jersy City. Now it's all showmanship. And quite poor showmanship at that. ...
