Best, or ideal record clamp Sota's.
Best system you can assemble for peanuts ? There is one whole lot of terrific used equipment for sale at heart-breaking (for the sellers) prices. However,I'm not a fan of EBAY. A'Gon is terrific site for beginning exploration of the possibilities.
Billy Cobham's Spectrum I bought this LP when it first came out. It's still a favorite. I play it L-O-U-D! I agree that Bolin was quite the talent. Love the cover art.
Yamaha Amp Nostalgia Flg - The L65s sound terrific mostly for rock and jazz. The 70 watts produced by the CR1020 seem about perfect for sound repro for these JBLs. I tried playing them at a higher volume with a 1000 Watt amp (740-960w at 4ohm)and they could not handle...
Sota Sapphire with or without vacuum? I've owned one Sapphire w/o vac, one w/ vac, and now have a new NOVA w/vac. To my ears vac produces greater detail throughout, especially with base tones. I've not noticed the dullness Dusty wrote of but agree about the enhanced detail and absence...
Yamaha Amp Nostalgia MX1000U, MX10000U, CR1020. I have enjoyed all 3 of these terrific amps. Sold the 10000 series gear some years ago. My MX1000U is paired with the CX1000U preamp, and the equalizer of that time AND CONTINUES TO PERFORM IN A BIG WAY, impressively dri...
How do you listen to your music? For serious listening I go to my audio room. Usually have a mood in mind. 1st go to Lp or SACD if I have it. One tune suggests another. Inevitably I fire up my Fender tube amp, get out my harp mic(yea, that"Green" thang)and my harps then crawl into...
Your Best Vinyl Memory Super Session (Bloomfield, Kooper, Stills) and Truth (Jeff Beck). In 7th grade I spent my neighborhood lawncutting income to purchase my friend's older sister's little stereo system. Toni threw in a couple of semi-current albums including the terr...
How far away is your Nirvana My take from what I hear and read from majority of true audiophiles is that nirvana is no more than an unattainable concept. The "nirvana fulfillment line" is illusive.
Vintage receiver 2 phonos I also have held onto a CR 1020 that I purchased new in '79. Up until about a year ago it was part of a second system I had. It's perfect except the volume control has malfunctioned now.Any advice on getting the part to replace the volume control?...
Vintage receiver 2 phonos Take a look at Yamaha units. Very high quality in those days. From personal experience.
TT suggestions for a newbie. There is already one heck of a lot of great input written on this topic on A'Gon already. You might benefit in searching the archives here, if you haven't already.
Phonostage Question I second Art Audio. I'm totally pleased with my Vinyl One.
What the most musical power amp for under $1K? Something preowned. Not too much of a gamble here.
Should I get a new cart, TT or phono stage? Worth taking a look at the entry-level SOTA tables while you're at it. I write from experience with the Rega, SOTAs, Music Halls, Micro Seiki, and Pioneer but not the Denon tables. |
