A solid tube photo stage around 1500
An update: after flirting with several Allnic 1201's for sale and failing to buy them in time, I took a plunge on a Hagerman Trumpet - sound unheard based on several recs here and online. With a 30-day trial period, it's a worthy risk. Will update...
Should I list all my classical CDs?
Okay. I'll pm those who are interested.
Should I list all my classical CDs?
Thanks, everyone, for your advice. I'd be happy to ship them to someone or Library. Lots of titles from Harmonia Mundi and Musical Heritage Society. I love baroque and early music recordings. I really can't see me listening to classical CDs anymor...
Ready, set, comment! Speaker cables don’t make a difference?
I can't get over how cluttered and sonically distracting his studio is. I mean, no matter what cables he's running through those floordstanders, it won't make a difference to me with all that shyte lying around. No to mention the glass wall. Dude-...

@schubert I found my copy the other day tucked away in a record store for $6.99. Cleaned it and was impressed by how enfolding the music was, not to mention the organic precision of von Karajan's conducting. https://www.discogs.com/Edvard-Grieg-Be...
Classical Music for Aficionados
Listening to the Deutsche Grammophone recording of Grieg's "Peer Gynt" with Herbert von Karajan conduting. Superb sonics once I cleaned up the vinyl.
Anyone still do insightful or intelligent lyrics?
Another thought about the OP's post. Writing in 2004 and bemoaning the paucity of "insightful and intelligent lyrics" also translates into not being able or willing to branch out into other genres. The artists mentioned in the OP were all comforta...
Anyone still do insightful or intelligent lyrics?
Even the the OP's OP was from 17 years ago, it still translates into: "I've lost touch with modern music and am hanging onto music I grew up with." It's a shame to become a musical dinosaur surrounded by beautiful fossils.

@tomic601 glad to hear some championing of Glenn's craftsmanship. I feel they get lost in the barrage of marketing noise here stateside.

@tablejockey how would you describe the Fosgate's sound?
Azimuth: how critical is it?
Do you have the silver or the black PL600? On the black one, there is really no way to adjust the azimuth except to make micro adjustments by loosing that little screw at the top of the head shell adjusting the headshell one way or the other, and ...

@advanced101.  Kind of kicking myself for not accepting the counteroffer in time. It was for $500 less than the Allnic listed on Hammer tone, plus came with four extra tubes. Meh. As U2 says, what you don't have, you don't need it now.

No worries. A couple of review sites had suggested such a move. I kind of like doing stuff like that, so I may go for it.
