McIntosh C48 and C50 owners-how good is the DAC? I own the C48, and am totally happy with it. I was just curious what other owners might have to say about the included DAC. I didn't buy the C48 for the DAC portion, but because it had the 5-band eq, was a simple unit compared to other units in th...
Budget Preformance / Power Cords and Interconects Check out Signal Cable's array of wires and cables. Good stuff and won't break the bank.
Monster Home Theater Power Center? Who cares where you buy it, Elizabeth, as long as it is a good price? I bought my latest 7000 for $400 + $40 shipping from Digital Guesthouse Ventures, LLC. I wanted the 7000 because it has the red led's, not the blue of the Mk2. The unit was bran...
Monster Home Theater Power Center? All I know is my systems sound great with the Monster 7000. I do have dedicated 20 amp circuits for each system. It is interesting to note that the display shows the line varying from 117 volts to 122 volts. If you read the propoganda that comes w...
Monster Home Theater Power Center? I have 2 Monster Power HTPS 7000's, one for home theater, the other for my 2-channel Mac system. I am comletely happy with them, and would buy them again. I paid $400 each, brand new. One I just bought 4 months ago, so they can be had for that pri...
Is McIntosh a stepping stone into HI/FI? If you look through the for sale ads here on the 'Gon, you'll quickly discover that ALL brands are being offered for sale, so I've come to the conclusion that most folks are never happy with what they own, and are constantly searching for somethin...
ImportCDs I have used ImportCd's numerous times, probably at least over 50 times. However, I always buy their stuff through Amazon, and have never once had a problem with them. When I pay thruough Amazon it is with a credit card on file there. Ska man gave ...
Dual Subs set up advice Run your RCA lines from your preamp as you suggested in option #1.
Receiver or Preamp with 5 channel analog outputs I don't know what models you looked at, but all three of my Yamaha receivers, from the DSP-A1 to the RXV-1400, and one even cheaper, all have 5-channel analog outs for seperate amps, + a subwoofer out, and they've been like that for years. The RXV...
McIntosh Preamp Decision...C26 or C504 I'm sorry, I meant to say "preamps", not amps in the reply above. Another consideration is whether you want remote control or not. It may also be that a C41 had one set of balanced inputs as you need. I would think a C38 would be a good choice, it...
McIntosh Preamp Decision...C26 or C504 Check out rogerrussell.com for info on all Mac's older amps. Personally, you could do much better for the same money than the C504. To get balanced inputs, you will probably have to go to a C42, which is much more expensive. Earlier preamps had ba...
McIntosh MX-130 MX130 Pro Logic only for ambience? Again as I recall, you may have to use another amp, or a multi-channel amp for the rear channels, as well as the front channels. I don't think the MX130 has any internal amps.
McIntosh MX-130 MX130 Pro Logic only for ambience? As I recall, you can indeed use rear speakers, but it will be Pro-logic surround that is extracted from 2-channel. If that's all you need, it will work fine. To add Dolby Digital, you would have to use the decoder you describe.
McIntosh C46 makes distorting pops thru speakers SF, my C48 only has the standby/on switch, so I don't have the hard switch you mention. However, my former C37 had no problems doing it either way too. Thanks for the info from Chuck.
What exactly is a 20 amp dedicated line? You can have it both ways; a dedicated line can be used with both outlets, or you can break the tabs connecting the upper and lower outlets and have a seperate dedicated line to each outlet, giving you 2 dedicted lines. With a dedicated line, no o... |
