MQA DAC or Not?
Lol. With the right DAC 16 bit 44.1 sounds fantastic. Who needs MQA or DSD is exactly my feeling.
Benchmark Dac3
Compared Benchmark DAC2 vs Gustard X20 pro with Singer SU-1.Really hard to hear any difference at all. Certainly not enough difference to worry about which makes the Gustard at less than half the price a good bargain. Not had a chance so far to co...
What are the most outrageous speakers reviews you have ever seen?
Lol. I really have to laugh when you see car speaker whizzer cones on "high-end" speakers. Even modern Harnon Kardon, Mark Levinson and other top car audio systems don't use whizzer cones but in the world of audiophiles - slap the cheapest thing i...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
@bdp24 Well he is a pro. Attended the Conservatoire in Nice, France. So like Berkeley trained musicians he brings a rigorous approach rather then self taught Stan Lynch. Steve can write and read music which I am not sure if any of the heartbreaker...
What is your speaker ownership history since 1995?
@tubegroover   If we all agreed then life would indeed be very dull. Imagine if all musicians agreed on what to play and what sounded good!!!
What is your speaker ownership history since 1995?
@dougsat   Either people don't really know what they are looking for or they are more interested in just having fun by trying out different gear and a multitude of sounds. My approach is quite different but I am of a tiny minority. I am open to ch...
I wish I had a device that would delay lowering my TT arm
I have a manual TT. It is well calibrated and serviced - it takes almost 10 seconds for the arm to descend. Change your damping fluid on the arm control lever to something thicker.
$35K to spend, how will you build a system?
If I could start over again, I would buy great sounding interconnects, a box of directional fuses and the best speaker cables I could find. Of course 35K would not nearly be enough - so I definitely wouldn’t waste money on electronics or speakers ...

@reubent   AWB - great stuff. I have been a fan of Steve Ferrone for over 40 years.

Does anyone remember the phone call listening room inmprovement scam?
I tried it but when I picked up the phone someone with heavy breathing asked if I had checked on the children?
Fuses fuses fuses
@bdp24   Totally agree. They refuse to defuse but choose to infuse an effusive obfuscation instead. Obfusely everyone knows a fuse when flipped around is an esuf which sounds different. Now you can't argue that
Warm, rich sounding interconnects?
If you want a warm rich sound then you simply need to apply a little butter or cream to the jacket of your interconnects. It works wonders! If you find it too warm or smooth then try a sprinkle of pepper and that usually will spice up the sound. S...
Mac "mini toslink" headphone jack
Yes. Just be aware that there are some issues with settings in the MAC. The MAC has a utility called Audio Midi where you control the sample rate and bit depth output of the MAC. This utility does a poor job of sample rate conversion. When you sta...
