Opinions on Technics SL-3300 Go for it. Well serviced you could get about $400 on flea bay for this. Jimmy Page uses a Technics SL-B2 belt drive....Great with a Shure 97X or a Denon DL-110 cartridge....
power This is a key problem with speakers - especially audiophile designs. At higher levels they compress and sound dull and flat. It is a problem in Xmax excursion of the drivers as well as overheating issues prevalent in small voice coils (less than 4...
Soundtracks and Film scores, your favourites Check out Peaky Blinders TV series - great music - PJ Harvey, Dead Weather, Raconteurs, Nick Cave - etc - dark atmospheric Brit style blues/alternative.
Silly prices for Nordost cables @joecasey I recommend Canare Star Quad wire with XLR interconnects. It is not widely understood but all the supposed wire problems/effects are actually because of poor equipment design, poor setup, incompatibility and malfunctioning gear. Properly ...
Silly prices for Nordost cables @dlcockrum Neither. I don't use anything more than $30 interconnects. I prefer to buy equipment that works without band aids!
A new take on built in room treatments? +1 GIK Tri-traps - these work great for clarity in lower mid range. Also agree about not deadening the room too much. My preference is a live front end where the speakers are placed with treatments on side walls (especially needed if speakers are ...
Journey ending speakers @james_w514 +1 ATC SCM 150 or 200It took me 20 years to eventually get their top of the line 150 but I enjoyed ATC sound all along from SCM 20 to 100 and ultimately 150. Journey is not necessarily over but someone someday hopefully will eventually...
Silly prices for Nordost cables No more silly then $500 interconnects - that is if you regard anything above 90% silly as just being plain silly and if you don't draw a distinction between silly and super silly.
What do I buy? Paradigm Prestige Series?
Sonic Tonic fom the Tweek Geek How long does the audible improvement last and how much of the liquid did you drink to achieve the optimal effect?;-)
KEF Blade 2 as replacement for Reference 107/2 Stick to the 107/2. The Uni-Q driver doesn’t sound integrated at all SPL levels with the bass - maybe they cross it over to low and it runs out of steam - don’t know but that is what I hear on the KEF R700.Anyway it is a strange beast. Normally a ...
Benchmark Dac3 If you trust measurements then Benchmark is outstanding compared to anything else. If you trust ears then your taste is what matters and no amount of research can help as you need to audition....That said, I am definitely hearing the lower noise f...
Benchmark Dac3 @gdhal It ultimately depends on your setup and what works for your amp and speakers. I compared both the DAC2 and Gustard to Audioresearch DAC 8. In the end it was too hard to pick a winner. The sound was excellent from all sources - not possible ...
Dynaudio-Which one should I buy with around $5000. With Dynaudio I’d suggest Either stick to their small two ways (which they do better than most) like the Contour/Confidence old or new version. OR I think you are better off with another line of speakers for a good three way as the good three ways...
Wilson Sasha 2 or Alexia for small room 10' x 17'? The resonant bass on these can be a bit of a challenge but of all the Wilsons this is probably the best behaved in the bass. The mid range is very nice and good driver integration - one of the few speakers I have heard that I like. Go for it! |
