Has Rel fallen out of favor with audiophiles?
Rel were among the best in the early days of subwoofers but they don't come to mind even in the top 10 these days IMHO.
How Is MQA Fareing?
No idea about MQA progress but Tidal Masters often sound excellent and that is what I am very happy about.I have a theory that high frequencies generated in excessively high resolution help with DAC performance ....a kind of dither if you like as ...
Would "Sgt. Pepper's" be a better album if.....
Yeah for sure... me, Paul and Ringo were chatting about this very topic last week and we are all agreed ;-)
Bluesound Node 2 as DAC for CD player?
Good grief ...Bluetooth is definitely not for audiophile streaming ... why bother with Tidal at all....
Best small used monitors under $1000
ATC SCM 11 or Genelec 8020 or KEF R300
What sample rate should I choose?
Best is if you can purchase Bitperfect and then enable it to set Audio Midi to automatically set to whatever file resolution you happen to play... all on the fly.Alternative set Audio Midi to 24 bit 96 KHZ and then launch iTunes - everything will ...
MQA DAC or Not?
Lol. With the right DAC 16 bit 44.1 sounds fantastic. Who needs MQA or DSD is exactly my feeling.
Benchmark Dac3
Compared Benchmark DAC2 vs Gustard X20 pro with Singer SU-1.Really hard to hear any difference at all. Certainly not enough difference to worry about which makes the Gustard at less than half the price a good bargain. Not had a chance so far to co...
What are the most outrageous speakers reviews you have ever seen?
Lol. I really have to laugh when you see car speaker whizzer cones on "high-end" speakers. Even modern Harnon Kardon, Mark Levinson and other top car audio systems don't use whizzer cones but in the world of audiophiles - slap the cheapest thing i...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
@bdp24 Well he is a pro. Attended the Conservatoire in Nice, France. So like Berkeley trained musicians he brings a rigorous approach rather then self taught Stan Lynch. Steve can write and read music which I am not sure if any of the heartbreaker...
What is your speaker ownership history since 1995?
@tubegroover   If we all agreed then life would indeed be very dull. Imagine if all musicians agreed on what to play and what sounded good!!!
What is your speaker ownership history since 1995?
@dougsat   Either people don't really know what they are looking for or they are more interested in just having fun by trying out different gear and a multitude of sounds. My approach is quite different but I am of a tiny minority. I am open to ch...
I wish I had a device that would delay lowering my TT arm
I have a manual TT. It is well calibrated and serviced - it takes almost 10 seconds for the arm to descend. Change your damping fluid on the arm control lever to something thicker.
$35K to spend, how will you build a system?
If I could start over again, I would buy great sounding interconnects, a box of directional fuses and the best speaker cables I could find. Of course 35K would not nearly be enough - so I definitely wouldn’t waste money on electronics or speakers ...
