Will I benefit from a new DAC that can upscale to 192
Lots of folks using Roon find that upsampling sounds better. Ultimately it depends on your DAC quality. Many DACs benefit from upsampling. It makes no difference for my DAC so I just set Roon to stick to native sample rates of the original file.Ji...
Pioneer Plasma Monitor
It will likely have lost about 1/3 of the brightness over the years. Otherwise a great TV.
Speaker Break-In - What Physically Changes During Break-In To Enable Better Sound?
@kosst_amojan Did you watch the videos? You might learn something if you did.Not all speakers are just thrown together using OEM parts and go out the door with only a go no go test. Some drivers are rigorously built and stress tested individually ...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
David,OLED TVs recalibrate when switched off. This is especially a big factor when very new. The screen contrast is greatly affected by the automatic calibration procedure at least initially. Big face palm moment!
Upgrading from andras
Have you noticed the mid range suck out? Perhaps this is something that fits your taste? It means the speaker is rather overly polite - trumpet will lack the usual forward character and violin will be muted.https://www.stereophile.com/content/eggl...
Critique my setup
+1 speakers are weakest link. Not knowing your tastes it is hard to make suggestions. Go out and listen. With tubes you need to carefully match speakers as dips in impedance will modulate the response when coupled with a high output impedance tube.
"RUSH" Vinyl remasters vs CD --Sound differences...OPINIONS?
Plenty of RUSH fans out there. Great musicians. Exit stage left is great it breathes and has atmosphere. Their studio stuff seems too dry or cleansed - too much studio tweaking perhaps chasing perfection.

Upsampling has benefits in the way it distributes ghost images from the data above the Nyquist. The higher in frequency these ghosts are pushed the more like random noise they appear to the DAC. Random noise at high frequency is good because it he...

Caps should be reformed before you receive them if the speaker maker chooses such caps that require it. Otherwise this is not high quality production. High quality designs will also avoid passive crossovers for a multitude of obvious reasons. Capa...
Speaker Break-In - What Physically Changes During Break-In To Enable Better Sound?
@audiozen Replace the words “high end” in your post with “low end” and you are right. Only crap low quality speakers have a high risk of “off center piston” misalignment. High quality speakers made of high quality parts are not only built with far...
What is considered a "standard" percentage of devaluation per year foor high end speakers?
+1 Elizabeth nailed it!
Quincy Jones Interview
Ok since we are talking Beatles. What about Lennon’s violent behaviour towards women? Did he get that from his Dad? And how did the Beatles manage to hide this ugly aspect and maintain their image and fan base. I guess personal life was much more ...

It all depends on design. Big motors and acoustic suspension will dominate response on high quality drivers - spider and surround compliance being negligible. On low quality drivers then you can fully expect the manufacturer to recommend a break i...
Led Zeppelin Classic Records 45 series -Am I nuts?
Oops - this is a very old thread. FWIW the Deluxe set released starting in 2014 is the best remaster I have heard and is significantly better than earlier stuff. That 45 rpm sounds better than 33 - well DUH big face palm! Of of course it does.33 i...
Hearing loss , speakers or headphones ?
Shure SE846 are the best IEM period. Etymotic ER4 were good once (like 20 years ago) but have long been superseded. Headphones will be easiest for audibility as there is no room reflection/reverb in the sound and these IEMs eliminate all backgroun...
