Scanspeak 10" driver replacement - blown woofer
With cheaper drivers you should simply replace them with new drivers. Make sure you get the same model driver. Only high quality drivers ($500+ each) are usually worth re-coning.
Dynaudio breakin period
They won't change much but perhaps your hearing will adjust. Sonic memory takes a while for you to adjust to how your favorites (well known tracks) now sound.
Upgrading from Wilson Sophia 2's?
See here for plenty of great alternative suggestions with no mention of Wilson Sophia. I like the last suggestion - Active PMC great detail but not fatiguing.

Es347,I missed your reply until today. You make a good point. Actually I have no axe to grind with VSA but, as you point out, perhaps I am overly distrustful of most technical claims made by audio manufacturers...especially given that most designe...
Sub Cable Effect
Technically, how is this possible when the only change is the sub cable? Sorry but there is no plausible technical explanation other than perhaps you reversed the phase or the previous connection was faulty or you changed something else like volu...
Can even a Novice hear differences in Sound Qualit
Novices can indeed hear differences. They may be less able to describe them and slower to identify errors. However, there is no substitute for training to improve skills.
any early 80's alt/soft punk fans out there?
Oh and let's not forget Pet Shop Boys, OMD, and Erasure. Great stuff! Ultravox, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Thompson Twins, Thomas Dolby, Yaz, Visage and lets not forget the pretty boys - Duran Duran - their "Strange Behaviour" double CD has some ...
DEQ2496 - Jitter issue
Surprinsiggly, I found that the DAC 1 was not sounding as good as the analog output of the DEQ. Then I think you have nothing much to worry about.
DACs and reproduced sound
Also, measured distortion is only one among many criteria that determine sonics, whether in loudspeakers or in CDPs Agreed good point - like phase for example - you can get a big difference in soundstage/imaging even though timbre may be the same...
DEQ2496 - Jitter issue
I'd suggest to get something like a Benchmark DAC1 on lone froma guitar or music store and experiment. There are so many variables that it is hard to say whether you have jitter or not. For sure it could be a problem depending on your gear, connec...
DACs and reproduced sound
It's a panglossian notion that the failings of one area of a system can be ameliorated by the failings in another. Not IME. Agreed. My point was that worrying about the performance benefit of an incremental reduction of 0.0001% distortion seems l...
DACs and reproduced sound
if no component is perfect it follows that no preamp is neutral. By neutral I mean it does not add coloration deliberately. There are plenty of examples of audio equipment that add coloration deliberately to create an effect or a particular sound.
Wilson Benesch A,C.T. & Wilson Audio Watt Puppy8
I do not have direct experience but the audio compression evident on the tweeter (Soundstage Review of the WP8 see measurements) would really concern me if dynamics were important to me. Frankly, for a speaker at this price point and "quality" it ...
DACs and reproduced sound
Real-world devices simply aren't that accurate. Agreed. However at around 1% distortion we start to have trouble to hear or identify distortion. At best speakers may have 0.3% distortion over their entire frequency operating range at full power (...
Speaker cabinet construction..
Seems many loudspeakers go more for WAF then performance and cabinet material choice show this. Absolutely. That is fundamentally what the majority of audiophiles plonking down $5K on a showpiece really want. Most are not aware of the colorations...
