Most unusual/mesmerizing female voice.
And now for something completely different
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers "The Live Anthology"
I have been listening to the live anthology for a while now. I have the 5 CD's and the Blu-ray with 24bit/96Khz files. (only available in a box set) This is extremely well recorded/mastered. There are a number of great covers. For convenience, I l...
Most unusual/mesmerizing female voice.
Definitely mesmerizing in an unusual way
center channel problem
Did you try Phantom ?
nonshielded magnet / speaker
Unlikely to matter - a permanent magnet is fixed like the earth's magnetic field it has no impact on ac signals. I doubt the voice coil will carry as far as that.
Flac conversion for ipod?
I am interested in any answers to this. Anyone having success buying high quality HD Tracks and converting FLAC to apple lossless for use in iTunes?
what percentage of us really knows sound
Juan you are right that there are a few people out there who are broke from spending way too much on the wrong things, however, you cannot generalize. For example, my system cost is irrelevant to me. I choose not to buy what I feel are ridiculous ...
Active speakers. What to choose?
The vifa dome also appears to be used in lower end PMC models. The problem is the precision engineering and high cost to build a high quality dome. Most domes that are larger than 2 inch do not work that well and one would be better off with a reg...
Active speakers. What to choose?
Dome midranges are not all equal. ATC and PMC versions use a double spider to avoid rocking. There is a cheap version from Vifa of a 3 inch dome and it is used in the Beolab 5. The Vifa dome is not at all in the same class as what ATC and PMC use ...
Active speakers. What to choose?
ATC SCM 50 is a classic that has withstood the test of time but it won't win a beauty contest and it is not rare - it will hold it's used value well (assuming you get a good "demo' or used price). The other two speakers are more elegant and are lik...
Symptoms of damaged drivers / crossovers?
Buzzing or distortion is often audible when a driver fails. Swap L & R channels to test speaker versus amp/source.
Subwoofers - Grille off or on?
I would add that the baffle step is usually somewhere around 400 to 800 Hz and edge diffraction is something that affects imaging mostly in the midrange and treble. Neither of these frequencies are terribly important for a high quality subwoofer t...
Subwoofers - Grille off or on?
We find it easy to hear cloth soften the attack of a kick-drum and reduce the percussiveness of a string bass. It is best described as hearing a 'mumble' or a 'stumble' in the 50-70Hz range. Huh? The "attack" on a kick drum is around 5 KHz. Most ...
options for highly compressed CDs?
SeeDeeClip software will help repair CD's. I have used it and verified it to good effect. It won't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse but it helps. Of course these forums are just for chat. Nobody should try it.
Subwoofers - Grille off or on?
Wrong. It depends on the baffle design. Many speakers will definitely sound better with the grill on.A grill on or off is irrelevant for a subwoofer and makes no difference.
