Why Do Musicians Still Need Record Companies? Administrative support is a big reason. I've heard more than a few artists state that managing all the issues involved in accounting, legal, taxes, marketing etc. is considerably more time consuming when you forego the label and take on the direct...
Anyone tighten up drivers occasionally I've seen some interesting discussions about this with the DIY speaker builder and manufacturer crowd. Apparently, you have to exercise caution in over tightening the drivers as you can kind of torque or twist the basket of the driver which in tur...
How loud is loud? For me, once it gets in the mid 80's, (at the listening chair) it's loud.I've found that as my system has gotten better, I listen at lower levels. I no longer have the need to turn it up as I get everything I want at a lower volume.
Speakers for low power SET, nearfield, low volume? Schubert, it's a totally different speaker now. Completely different drivers.
Speakers for low power SET, nearfield, low volume? @Brianportugal...I greatly prefer the Omegas to the Kef's and Silverlines. They image better, are much more dynamic at the listening levels I experience and once you hear the coherence of a single driver, you really do start noticing everything th...
Power DAC for KEF LS50 I had some LS50's and had run them at various times with the DDA-100 and little Wadia 151. It worked well with both, but I think the Nuforce was a little better having a bit more power.
Best imaging and sounding bookshelf speaker I had a friend back in the day who had TC50s and yes, they imaged very well. If you like the Spicas, you might like some of the Single Driver speakers that are out there. They image fantastically and like Spicas, don't cover the frequency extremes...
For nearfield listening: which of these towers? If you are considering DIY single driver, there is a world of designs out there. Don't limit yourself to just the Audio Nirvana stuff before you do some research.
Top brand speakers Bo, what I'm looking for is an independent 3rd party account of what your setups are like. Of course Onkyo and Monitor Audio are going to say your setup sounds great because it's in their best interest to say so.I checked out some links on the Vel...
Top brand speakers "Without getting into who's right or wrong, what do you mean by written proof? Proof of what?"Bo has claimed that he has been best "absolute" sound at at least one show many many times. I recently asked him in a post about this basically pointing ...
Is it possible to have Good Imaging close to wall Bo,I've seen you mention that you were the best "absolute" sound at a show many times. Here in the U.S. when someone is best in show they will be written about and shown on many websites. Are there any websites in your country that discuss and sho...
Smoke contaminated component In addition to baking soda, you can also store it in a bag of charcoal. Good luck, it could easily take a few weeks.
A True convert is born I'm right there with you. I downgraded in costs, watts, market cache etc. to a simple SET system with high efficiency single driver speakers. I get the sound that I was always chasing with conventional setups.
KEF LS50 @BrianportugalIf I had a small room, let's say 10x10 ft or smaller and the vocal music I listened to was just simple arrangements, I think the the Silverlines would be just fine and possibly be better than the Kef's in a small tight space like tha...
KEF LS50 Hi Brianportugal,The Silverlines are now actually being underutilized in my TV system, being driven by a NAD. The Harbeths are now relegated to a second system where I am running them with a Wadia 151 Powerdac since I sold the Musical Fidelity M3i... |
