Why the difference? One factor to consider is the effect of the motor vibrations. Remember that the cartridge is taking tiny miniscule vibrations and amplifying those. If the motor is directly coupled to the platter, you have to then deal with a greater possibility o...
KEF LS50 Hi Mapman,Unfortunately, I won't be able to run the Kefs or the Harbeths with the new tube amp. It's a Decware model of only 4 watts and while it will drive the high efficiency Omega speakers I'll be using with it just fine, there is no way it cou...
Are there hybrid cables - solid and stranded? There were proponents of Solid Core cables long before Tara Labs. I remember back in the late 80's, some of the british mags were big proponents of solid core designs.
KEF LS50 Hi Mapman,I've had the Kef's for about 2 months. For the past 5 or 6 weeks, I've been rotating them in and out of the system with the P3's every 4 or 5 days. Sometimes I'll pop in the little Silverlines into the system for a day just for fun.You a...
Bass leaves after amp warms up? I saw that you had listed your system for sale. Did you get to the bottom of the problem or have you just given up?
What is a really good sounding low volume system?? I think you definitely are going to have to look to bookshelf designs with smaller drivers and less bass to minimize any sound intrusions upon the neighbors. Something I've learned is that the less air that is being pushed correlates to less poten...
KEF LS50 Hi Scofieldkid,Make sure you give them some time to break in before you form any opinions. I had mine for a little over a week before they sounded good and during that time I was thinking I'd made a big big mistake, but then all of the sudden, the...
Any ideas regarding Diagonal room set up? I just did an Agon search and found some more....http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?cspkr&1220749541&openfrom&1&4#1http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?cspkr&1285701706&read&keyw&zzdiagonalhttp://forum.audio...
Any ideas regarding Diagonal room set up? Hi Terrysimmons,In addition to the Decware discussion which is very good, here are a couple of Audiogon links where the concept has been discussed:http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?cspkr&1280365234http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?...
Any ideas regarding Diagonal room set up? Actually, this is a very commonly recommended solution for square or difficult rooms. In many instances it works quite well.
Bass leaves after amp warms up? I can't imagine that the amp (unless it's defective) is the problem. Most of the Musical Fidelity stuff is designed and advertised to drive difficult loads. That M6i is supposedly rated at 400 watts into 4 ohms and the poster has said over and ove...
Sneaky new internet tax pushing through fast It's kind of a double edged sword. If it goes through, some states could I suppose be hurt if all of the sudden online purchases slow down because the price differential won't be advantageous anymore. If that happens, and you have a company in you...
small speakers for small room I agree with Rich above, if you are just going to throw the speakers into corners or against a wall and not be able to set the system up with room around both the speakers and listening position, you'll never be able to realize the benefits that m...
small speakers for small room That's a pretty tight room so you'll have to be careful and if you don't have any treatment in there, start to think about it if you truly want to get good sound. I've got a small room as well, but not quite as small as yours. I've had good luck w...
High eff. Musical warm bookshelves for a 45 amp? It's purpose built for desktop use along with low powered tube stuff. I haven't heard it so can't comment, but I do know the Omega speakers have a strong following among many SET folks. |
