Speakers for low power SET, nearfield, low volume? I've just converted to a low powered setup in a small room. I'm using Omega Super 3XRS speakers (94db)which replaced a setup alternating between Kef LS50's, Harbeth P3's and Silverline Minuets. I couldn't be happier with the sound. Super coherent,...
Cables more hype than value? I'm not sure I understand how serial numbers can really stop fakes. If the company making the fakes knows that the serial number on a legitimate interconnect is 27543 and they put that number on their fake, when a customer calls up and says "I hav...
Bass leaves after amp warms up? While I hope that the new amp fixes the issue, I'm skeptical. I recently read in another thread a post by I think Audiokinesis that describes situations in speakers where the voice coil gets too hot and starts to limit the bass response of a speak...
Speaker advice? @Mcanaday According to my Radio Shack SPL meter and a Stereophile test CD, I'm about -2db down at 63hz with the Silverline Minuets which incidentally measure flatter (at the listening chair) overall than both the Harbeth P3ESR and Kef LS50 in the ...
LS50s and room size @Jedinite24,I'd be nervous about buying the LS50's and then placing them right against the wall. It's really not the ideal situation for that speaker and you'd most likely do better buying something else better designed for that sort of placement....
Horning Eufrodites - help needed with boomy bass I agree with Charles1dad, you really should try placing some bass traps in the room. There is obviously a lot of low frequency sound that needs to be absorbed.
MerrillAudio Veritas Reviewed at Dagogo Hifial,One thing I've noticed is that if you really are a fan of a piece of gear, probably the worst thing you can do is to start posting over enthusiastic responses about that equipment all over the forums. Regardless of your intentions, it often...
Lots of detail, great imaging, not much bass? Hi B_limo,First thing about the LS50's is that they are way over your $700.00 budget, even on the used market. Out of the speakers I have right now, they are probably the most inappropriate for your requirements. They like to play a little louder ...
Lots of detail, great imaging, not much bass? I've been through quite a few models of bookshelf speakers over the past few years. I've had a couple of NHT models, a couple of PSB's the Epos Epic 1 and for the past few months, I'd kind of settled with 3 speakers that I was rotating in and out ...
External DAC For Oppo 105 At What Cost? Hi Lissnr, if you ever get bored one night, plug straight into the Oppo and give it a listen. Just like the original poster, I'm very interested in an answer to this question.
Upgrade Minuets to Supreme Plus? Thanks for the update Tonyangel. I'm a fan of the little Silverlines so I was interested in what you would hear. I appreciate the feedback.
Low gain power amp to match the Audio Note M6 pre Just wanted to respond to Larryi's Decware comment. I've heard Decware amps a few times now and they were nothing at all like what Larryi described. I'm thinking he either heard a defective unit or was trying to drive speakers that the Decware was...
Upgrade Minuets to Supreme Plus? I'm guessing no one has done the upgrade and that's why there were no responses. I'll be interested in hearing about the differences though once you get the new ones so please post what you hear if it's not too much trouble.
KEF LS50 Integrated recommendation I've only played mine on a NAD and the Musical Fidelity M3i. I prefer the MF as it gives a slightly warmer presentation.
a crazy free audiophile tweak Funny you mentioned this as I've fooled around with this as well. However, I've found that the sound is only better (with your hands cupped behind your ears) if your room is not properly treated or your system isn't set up optimally. For me it make... |
