DAC upgrade from RME
I had the RME ADI-2 FS V2 (AKM chip) and Chord Mojo 2 at the same time.  The Mojo 2 sounded a little more natural without giving up detail or perceived speed.  The RME sounded more in my face....front row center (exciting presentation)....with t...
JBL's Marketing Blunder..
this is definitely how younger women communicate.
so bass traps in corners do nothing, it seems we have been fooled. or are being fooled.
I have GIK corner bass traps. They are very effective in the corners behind my speakers. They didn’t do much in the corners behind my listening position...so I stack two of them in corners behind my speakers. apparently the bass pressure was grea...
Preamp suggestions for Atma-Sphere Class D Monoblocks
Great points @atmasphere I have very short RCA cables & my Mojo 2 source is set to 3 Volts...if I set the Mojo DAC to 1 Volt, the sound softens...so having a source with some balls & a short RCA run could be why I’m not getting the thin l...
Preamp suggestions for Atma-Sphere Class D Monoblocks
Passive has no sound....so when a person says passive sounds like X....X = the natural sound of the power amp & DAC
Preamp suggestions for Atma-Sphere Class D Monoblocks
@roxy54 hopefully others get a chance to hear their power amps for what they are...before deciding whether or not to change the sound.  I love my solid state Van Alstine power amp with a passive pre. The distortion profile of the power amp is jus...
Preamp suggestions for Atma-Sphere Class D Monoblocks
First, you must hear Ralph's amp with no active preamp to see if you like the sound or if color is needed.  You can do this with the passive Schiit Sys for $50.  If you like what you hear, you can buy a proper pre such as the Benchmark HPA &am...
Help me understand the current amp market
you're getting recommendations from Benchmark, Pass Labs, & SET amps...wildly different sounds...you would need to define better.  Benchmark is a technical winner for example...but you may find the sound lean or not organic compared to higher...
Should Speaker Manufactures provide a Frequency Response Graph?
@mlsstl I didn't use the words "needing permission." You did...creating a strawman argument. I wrote "didn't have permission" which is a fact and not a value judgement.
Should Speaker Manufactures provide a Frequency Response Graph?
@botrytis I know this and even stated this. Please see my statement below. in this specific case Erin did notify Eric that he was reviewing his product, to make sure he had the correct listening axis.
Should Speaker Manufactures provide a Frequency Response Graph?
@mlsstl in this specific case Erin did notify Eric that he was reviewing his product, to make sure he had the correct listening axis. However, he didn't have Eric's permission to review his product or publish measurements....which is the norm for ...
Should Speaker Manufactures provide a Frequency Response Graph?
@mlsstl permission is the norm so a review done without permission was worth mentioning for contextual reasons...no other implications.    it sounds like you are trying to justify rude forum behavior. Just treat it like real life...you know the p...
Should Speaker Manufactures provide a Frequency Response Graph?
@mlsstl I am fully aware of the dispute...and I didn't feel the need to weigh in on Eric's behavior...that drama doesn't interest me.  Both times you have called my @ handle, you are assuming things I didn't say...I believe this is called the "st...
Should Speaker Manufactures provide a Frequency Response Graph?
So,  what is important about the Tekton review not having Eric's prior approval?  Is he a special case? @mlsstl Yes, Eric is a special case in that it has become a pubic dispute and gives us an inside look about what normally goes on behind the...
Should Speaker Manufactures provide a Frequency Response Graph?
@bigkidz if you manufacturer hi-fi components...you would notice if the response of an active component was +/- 3dB. Having said that, I have never heard of a component that creates such large frequency response errors....maybe a tube amp with a v...
